Guest guest
Lindy Lou, they could just be related to severe pain. My DH had a kidney stone in 1990 and got hiccups from the intense pain. It's something to do with the phrenic nerve in your chest. He had the hiccups every 1-2 seconds for a week. He couldn't eat, couldn't sleep, and lost 15 pounds. They finally had to put him in the hospital to get them stopped, and then he was on a heart medication for 3 months to keep them from coming back. Until then, I never knew pain could cause them. I had heard that cancer patients got them and in fact I had a great uncle who had them for years when he had cancer. Here's hoping they don't come back! {{{{hugs}}}} Donna N Re: Re: hiccups so now i'm wondering if really painful hiccups are related to fms or maybe ibs????? Guest guest
donna N. this is so interesting. the body is really an amazing thing, how all these chemicals etc. work together. i would have never connected pain with hiccups, but i don't doubt it, knowing how mysteriously (to me anyway) the body functions. thanks!!! this gives me something to think about and i learned something new!!!!! {{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}} Lindy LouLindy Lou, they could just be related to severe pain.
