But they recommend that you use one that is at least 18inches deep, 2 feet wide by 2-3 feet high. Dh made our cage and it is 3 stories. Look at the ferret cages and that should give you a pretty good idea. They need to have room to run and jump(they are very active at night) Ours are inside because they need to stay in a steady temp of between 70-80 degrees. They can die of heat if they get too warm.
