Guest guest Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 Today I went to see my pulmonologist. The nurse weighed me and clipped the oximeter to my finger to check my oxygen. I weighed 162. I hadn't remembered what I had weighed in October when I last saw the doctor. The nurse checked and told me that I had last weighed 210 so I lost 50 pounds. Well her math is different from mine but I guess 48 is close enough to 50. When I was standing at the scale, the oximeter reading was right at 90. After the doctor had me do some breathing so he could listen to my lungs, the reading was 94. He said that was good enough. They used to have me walk around with the oximeter on my finger and the reading always went down to about 82 or so. My chest xray is still abnormal but the doctor said it hasn't gotten worse since October so he feels that my lungs have stabilized for now. He wants to see me back in 1 year and at that time I'll have another chest xray and a pulmonary function test. I still have trouble breathing upon any kind of exertion, like making the bed. But, it's good to know it's not worse. Donna in WA It does not require many words to speak the truth. --Chief ph __________________________________________________ Quote
Guest guest Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 Donna, have you ever been tested for cystic fibrosis, which I have, and which my youngest, nearing forty has? Love, n, wMS, CF etc. That 84 while walking is a bit scarey and in the CF world would put you on oxygen, and also cause an order for a fast CT of your lungs! There are many chronic lung diseases which go forever undiagnosed and un detected. You take care of YOU now; we NEED you here! M.~ pulmonologist visit Today I went to see my pulmonologist.
