Guest guest
Thanks Carol for the great information. I was diagnosed with Fibro without much testing at all. He did a couple of pushes on pressure points, ran some blood work and pretty much just said, yes you have it. I was seeing a pain management doctor following a failed back surgery. I told the pain doctor that I thought something else was wrong with me and that I was worried that I might have Fibro and he said, " Of course you have fibro " . Funny - no one ever mentioned it to me ever before! So, I then went to a Rheumatologist to confirm and that's what he did. I don't know if he even considered that I might have lupus or MS or something else. I just think that since I came in there with the right symptoms and the pain doctor said I had it, then he just agreed. The problem I'm having with my doctor is that he thinks if I take an anti-depressant and a sleeping pill and get good sleep then the pain is going to go away. He also mentioned that I may need to go to a psychologist for therapy as well. He doesn't believe in pain medicines. He's giving me 3 Vicodin a day 5/500 which is half of what I used to take. It's not nearly enough. My problem is, I feel so bad lately and worse than I did just six months ago. I'm just worried that it might be something worse or more serious and that they aren't doing the right tests or considering it. I don't have many of the lupus symptoms except that I've had very odd skin issues lately, very dry eyes, mouth and nasal ulcers, and really bad joint pain that seems to be getting worse lately. My legs ache all the time. My ankles and shins hurt all of the time. I never used to get that before. The back pain is constant but I know that it's a result of the failed surgery. Right now I have had my medicine for the morning and still ache all over. I know what you mean about the flu type of pain. Sometimes even my eyelids ache I see the doctor again next week. I'm going to make a long list of my complaints and ask him to do some more testing just to be sure that there is nothing else wrong. Thanks for listening and for the information. I'll write next week after seeing him again. Robyn Carol Neal wrote: Robyn, here is the criteria for diagnosing lupus and Fibro, I got all the info from web. But the way I feel is that I have the flu 24/7 and is eases off and gets worse nothing really helps it. I hope this helps.
