Guest guest
Hi Cheryl in TX I can only give you my own personal experience. I truly wondered what could possibly be accomplished by going to counseling. We have family counseling right now due to a lot of issues with my daughter, and it has REALLY helped. It really helps to get an outside opinion on things, especially when your own perspective may be unrealistic. Anyway, the family counselors have offered to meet with me privately just for my own support, and I've taken them up on that, and you know what? It has REALLY helped. Every time I'm supposed to meet with them I wonder why I'm doing it, but afterward, I've gained clarity on some real issues, some of which are specific, and it motivates me to move in a certain direction to solve a specific problem. It really is worth it. If your man doesn't understand, thats ok. He doesn't have to understand. But if he loves you, he should at least respect what you are doing for your own health. He wouldnt mind if I took an anti-depressant, but, to air our dirty laundry, in public, that would be too much.

He just feels that if we talked about whats going on, we could work it out, we dont need an outside person. He is smart, and I am too, and we could work it out.
