Guest guest Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 >I have always felt it is a weakness to show > sadness and fears, I think thats what gets some of us in the > situation we find ourselves? ---That is a really good insight. I never looked at it that way. Perhaps we feel the need alter our feelings with drugs because we are completely trying to censor some of them? > Please, noone will ever reject you here when you show you are sad or > hurt........by you reaching out and expressing how you feel you've > shown others that it's OK to feel scared and sad. Your post has > helped folks that still aren't quite brave enough to write........so > on behalf on them " Thankyou " . ---I really appreciate your saying that. I didn't really think about it being helpful to anyone else, which is a big part of my problem I think...I tend to get very self-focused and dramatic about my " bad " feelings as if I am the only person on earth who has ever felt such things. Then I just spiral deeper into my own drama, in the past taking more pills to get me out of it or recently withdrawing from the world. That would be a good coping tool for me to remember that expressing these things might help someone else. > Are you going to do the CBT group with ? I am, > is brilliant and I think it will help lots of us so much. ---Yes, I will be doing the group. I'm not too familiar with CBT but I'm interested in learning more. I think it will help all of us too. > When I was a few weeks off of cipromil I felt such sadness, fear and > loneliness. I would try and bottle it up inside. But it makes it > worse. I was really feeling terrible yesterday. I'm seeing for the first time I think that we are all going through the same stuff here, trying to cope without drugs in ways that are new to us. I sometimes used to feel like I was " different " here because my drug and addiction was different, but really it's about changing and growing and coping and we are all the same in that. Thanks for taking the time to respond to me when you are having computer problems. Love, Quote

I have never been very spiritual but I think that aspect is just beginning to emerge for me and hopefully it will be something that I will begin to explore. I have always in the past put up defenses against spiritual connections due to some negative childhool experiences with religion. Even in many years of alcohol recovery I wasn't able to embrace the spiritual aspect of it. Lately I have been feeling some " connectedness " feelings, nothing much, just sort of being in harmony with a bigger universe, but that is new for me. Quote
Guest guest Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 Hi and everyone, I'd like to see that I think it is marvelous to actually have feelings. For so many years I felt too numb to have feelings of vulnerability or really, anything. I started feeling things when I went through benzo w/d; I'm in full antidepessant w/d now, and after I started that some of the numbness has started coming back. I do still feel things, though - I feel joy at times and that is awesome to me. I feel fear a lot. I had that medicated for so long and am having to learn how to cope with that feeling. But I'm just grateful to be not quite as numb and I look forward to having a full rainbow spectrum of feelings as I go off of this drug.
