Guest guest
Norma, as I understand it, you do produce tears but not the right kind. Even though I don't have Sjogrens, I had to have punctal plugs put in my tear ducts to keep the " good " tears in to lubricate my eyes. Also, it could be due to allergies. Donna N Colorado burning eyes Hi, Does anyone have dry eyes? My optomitrist said I have dry eyes which causes my eyes to water. This doesn't make sense to me. How can my eyes be wet and dry at the same time????? They start to water, then burn and I have to wipe them for awhile until they stop burning. Especially first thing in the morning and later at night. this happens all year long. Any ideas? Norma
Guest guest
Norma, I'm an " eyechick " by trade - The tears your eyes are producing are of poor quality and they do not cover the cornea (front of your eye) well, so your tear ducts produce more poor quality tears... I have extremely dry eyes; the absolute best eye drop is Hypotears. It is more expensive than some others, but it is thicker and covers the cornea better, which makes it last longer. This is OTC, can be bought anywhere. If the drops don't help enough, try using Refresh ointment (also OTC) before going to bed. Sometimes I can't sleep because my eyes burn so much and the ointment helps - it also helps me to fall asleep since I have to keep my eyes closed for awhile since I can't see through the med. If these don't offer enough relief, look into punctal plugs - they partially block your tear drainage tubes, causing the tears to stay around a little longer. Good luck! jen t. > Hi, > Does anyone have dry eyes? My optomitrist said I have dry eyes which causes > my eyes to water. This doesn't make sense to me. Guest guest
I have dry eyes but I always related it to my contacts...hmmmm. I do have this eye thing every now and then where it will feel like a nerve jumps in it and it feels like being jabbed with a needle!! I hate it. Does anyone else have that? --Leigh -- burning eyes Hi, Does anyone have dry eyes? My optomitrist said I have dry eyes which causes my eyes to water. This doesn't make sense to me. Guest guest
My eyes are dry too. The best thing to do is to buy some artificial tears and use them in your eyes. hugs, Sundra
Guest guest
I totally relate to everything you said. The right eye is worse and feels like I have something gritty or sharp in my eyes. I told my doc that when I wake up and try to open my eyes it is like knives! Then I realized that I mostly sleep on the right side and wondered if that could make a difference. I started sleeping on my back or on the left side and, OMG, my right eye is doing better!!! Don't really understand that, but whatever works, right? And, I religiously use my nighttime eye gel. Never forget. Ruthie > i have dry eyes, my right more than my left. sometimes it gets to feeling like i have sawdust in my eyes and it's so annoying, not to mention painful. sometimes i wake up in the morning and my right eye hurts and is so dry. mine don't burn, too often. my eyes are also very gooey, yet, still dry. that doesn't make sense. > Luv & Hugz, > Lindy Lou > " You can never be too rich, > too thin > or have enough Barbies! > > > > > Hi, > Does anyone have dry eyes?
