Guest guest
I’ve taken Wellbutrin, Zoloft and Celexa. Don’t recommend Celexa…..going off of it was a nightmare….as discontinuance withdrawals ranked right up there with some of the worst MS vertigo attacks I have ever had. Guest guest
Hey, Darlene, you and I are in the same boat right now. Over the years I have stopped all my meds several times to see what I really need. How else are you going to know??? My doctors know that I do that and it drives some of them crazy but my internist on Friday said "how else do you know what's really working for you?". I have a feeling she has done the same thing and could probably join you and me, cruising on the "Good Ship Cranky Butt". lol I have successfully stopped my Prozac before but now I really do need something again. I was given samples of this stuff Cymbalta but I haven't started it yet. A close family member told me about Sam E. The first of the year she started on Sam E and B50. She has been quite depressed before and now is feeling great. She also takes St. s Wort. She has had such great success that I feel I should try that too. Sam E is not an herb, mineral or vitamin and is not a natural product (but neither is prozac...lol). It's a prescription item in Europe I discovered, but not here (which seems the reverse of normal, doens't it?) I'm still researching my options. I'm thinking I'm going to try the Sam E tho. In the past I took Zoloft. When it quit working for me I started Prozac. It worked well for me for several years. I stopped it a year ago and did great. But now I really need something again. I am having crying bouts and horrible crankiness, I'm irritated and distraught. I think I'm finally having some menopause related stuff happen to me too. I thought I had dodged the menopause bullet but I'm finally having hot flashes and some of the other stuff may be related to that too. No matter what the cause I can't stand it and neither can my family. It's no fun to feel like this, is it Darlene? So what meds do you still have around? What are you thinking of trying again? I wish you luck and I do understand this very well. Hang in there (and I will too) hugs))) Sharon kickincanes@... wrote: OK, Here I go with my med's. I have NOT taken any for a couple of months now. Guest guest
Hi,……..unfortunately I can’t tolerate antidepressants, so I’m not much help personally on what helps or not, but my son has used Cymbalta, and he didn’t like it. My BIL did research about SamE, and he was convinced it was the best one out there. My hubby took St. s Wort for years, and he thought it helped him. My SIL takes Amitryptilene [sp], a tri-cyclic and she swears by it. So maybe you will have to try a few to find the right one for you. I think the emotional stuff is the WORSE of the menopause symptoms. I have managed to muddle thru, but I’ve been known to take an extra valium when things got too intense. J I was reading a quote by a famous Romance author, and she was asked why she switched from writing Romance to writing Murder Mysteries, and she said: “Menopause hit, and I no longer felt like Romance quite fit my symptoms”! I’ve paraphrased that ‘cause I can’t remember the exact quote, but I think it captures the essence of her point!” lol……..Now why do I relate?? I’m sure glad I don’t have those intense cranky symptoms anymore. I can tolerate the physical stuff for the most part. Estrogen is stored in the fat, so I’ve been told overweight women have an easier time with the hormone reduction. And………I have lots of areas for storage!! ;-) Sympathy smiles from Jackie [oregon] From: MSersLife [mailto:MSersLife ] On Behalf Of Sharon Marsden Sent: Sunday, February 12, 2006 5:28 AM To: MSersLife Subject: Re: Depression Med's Hey, Darlene, you and I are in the same boat right now. Guest guest
All y'all, I have taken Lexapro, double dose even, it DID help, then I went off it, and after a while they tried me on Wellbutrin. Lexapro, BTW, Does have very harsh "sexual side effects" and is Known to be one of the worst in that area. Wellbutrin is better, but I don't take either now. I DO, however, take 400 mg Sam-E *and* 5-HTP Daily! And I've just added Acetyl L-Carnetine to the mix. I really notice the diff with Sam-E, and Yes, in Europe it IS a prescribed antidepressant, the most popular and effective even! Here is the US of A since it is a naturally occurring substance (read: the body makes it) it is considered a "food" and over the counter TG!!! I get mine mostly from shopping eBay auctions like a fiend. I get big lots that last me several months, usually for Less then one box would be in the store. I've taken whole fields of St 's with NO effect at all. Nothing, nada. Guest guest
Years ago before I was on any Meds I was taking a B-Complex that was also known as Stress Tabs and they worked good at the time and maybe I should go back to them instead of all the different Bs I buy indiviualy I will check into them. I am not suggesting that you use them instead of anything else but that maybe in combination with whatever your choice is. --HAPPINESS and BUTTERFLIES Lynn Intuition is part inspiration & part educated guess, TRUST YOURS -------------- Original message from Sharon Marsden : -------------- Are you taking anything now? Guest guest
Hi, well I was mistaken, he said he took Celexa. He said Cymbalta is a newer one, and Celexa was very mild. He only had situational depression, so he didn’t need to be on it for long. I’m sorry I don’t know who that author was, and as soon as I find it I’ll let you know. I was sure it was in the Readers Digest, but I couldn’t find it. LOL And I love the quote from the romance writer! Do you remember who the author is? I appreciate hearing about your son and Cymbalta. What didn't he like about it? Sharon Jackie Hanan wrote: Hi,……..unfortunately I can’t tolerate antidepressants, so I’m not much help personally on what helps or not, but my son has used Cymbalta, and he didn’t like it. I can ! tolerate the physical stuff for the most part. Over the years I have stopped all my meds several times to see what I really need. ! How else are you going to know??? My doctors know that I do that and it drives some of them crazy but my internist on Friday said " how else do you know what's really working for you? " . I have a feeling she has done the same thing and could probably join you and me, cruising on the " Good Ship Cranky Butt " . lol I have successfully stopped my Prozac before but now I really do need something again. I was given samples of this stuff Cymbalta but I haven't started it yet. A close family member told me about Sam E. The first of the year she started on Sam E and B50. She has been quite depressed before and now is feeling great. Sh! e als! o takes St. I thought I had dodged the menopause bullet but I'm finally having hot flash! es and some of the other stuff may be related to that too. No matter what the cause I can't stand it and neither can my family. It's no fun to feel like this, is it Darlene? So what meds do you still have around? What are you thinking of trying again? I wish you luck and I do understand this very well. Hang in there (and I will too) hugs))) Sharon kickincanes@... wrote: OK, Here I go with! my med's. I have NOT taken any for a couple of months now. I've been wanting to test myself to see if I am depressed, clinically and the meds help. Well, I have not been no nice to be around lately but I really don't know which one I should go back on. The below are the ones I have used in the past,,,not at the! same time but I switched thinking none of them worked. Now I'm confused cuz I really don't know what one I should take. I have all the medicines since I " stocked up " and not took any but am confused. I was just so sick and tired of taking med's that I wanted to be normal. Well, guess you could call me normal if I'm crying, irritated, blah...blah....blah. I know some of you will tell me to go see my doctor. Quite honestly, I fired my neurologist and my regular doc will be like most others, well, lets try this one. What have all of you used that has helped you. I know each of us are different but am curious. First started Prozac yearsssss ago, switched or I should say includ! ed wellbutrin with it. I then switched to Lexapro since it did " wonders " for my sister, didn't think it was helping me, I then switched to Zoloft. I know, it takes a while to see if they work and I've given them all time in different stages in my life and don't feel it works. So short story long is that I am not on any med's but the Rebif shots and take Xanex at night to help me with sleep/anxiety. Does anyone know a web, or I think someone posted at one time a good one to look up the different meds. I know that the Zoloft, Proxac, Wellbutrin, Lexapro are in different catagories and wouldnt mind looking them up. Gee.....maybe I should throw them all up in the air to decide which one to try. I'd rather not though. About 7 years ago I did try St. s Wart for depression but didn't see much results. Any suggestions to! a crazy, cranky, irritated, that is usually the Happy, go lucky nice lady. As we all know, depression is truly a medical problem. Oh well, I guess some people just need to go around looking stupid, huh? SharonWestie wrote: Sharon, I am not taking anything now. It’s a debate as to whether I NEED it or not, but for now, I think I am functioning pretty good without. I am not a fan of Tom Cruise and think that usually a person knows if they need it or not.
