List Serve,

I know that with Medicare patients, we need to use 59

modifiers if 2 procedures are performed by a PT or OT

that requires it. What if on the same day, a PT bills

for aquatic therapy and the OT who also sees the

patient the same day bills therapeutic exercise, would

that require a 59 modifier. If it was the PT or OT

doing them both, the answer is yes. What is the answer

when Pt does one and OT does another? I can tell you

what our FI is doing to our claims regarding this

situation. I want to know if they should be doing

that.

Thanks!

Rick Gawenda,P.T.
