First I had digestive problems, heart burn, anxiety, fatigue, then came the lymph node swelling and pain, then a vein in my finger bulged and burst (never happened before), and at about a month post implant my joints started swelling. I started getting muscle aches than ran up my arms, and then the following week my legs would have intense muscle cramps (again, never happened in my life). Next came the numb fingers and toes, bone pain, followed by a daily headache in my temple, dizziness, high blood pressure (which dropped within a month of explant), brain fog, neck pain, humming in my ear, weight loss, blurry vision. I had about enough and had them removed after 6 months. I'm feeling much better - still not perfect but the numb fingers and toes are gone, the joint swelling is much better but still comes to visit occasionally, and my vision has improved. The headaches left after about 3 months post explant. I haven't had those awful muscle aches in a while, probably about 9 months. I take a probiotic called Culturelle on a daily basis, and I also drink Kefir smoothies by a company called "Lifeway". I avoid sugar, except on the occasional holiday when I allow myself something sweet. Otherwise, I use Stevia in my coffee, and I eat cereal sweetened with fruit juice.Sis At about > > i was wondering when everyone started showing symptoms that > something > > was wrong? i have had my saline implants for over a yr now> __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi Maritza, First of all, I want to say congratulations on your explant. It's been awhile since we heard from you. I am so sorry to hear that you are still struggling with so much pain. Pain is an issue for quite a number of women, and I know that it is very difficult to overcome, but it can be done. I also want to mention that it is entirely normal for you to experience an exacerbation of your symptoms after explant. I have heard this over and over again from recently explanted women. It also happened to me. I not only had the same symptoms about 3 weeks after explant, at about 6 weeks I had even more. But the good news is that they eventually went away. I have no idea why things get worse initially, but there have been enough women that have recovered that we know that this is just sometimes part of the process of healing. I am sure it has something to do with the surgery and recovery of the immune system back to its former state, which can be one of autoimmunity. It took me a very long time to totally recover, but, thankfully, I have. I hope that will be encouraging to you. But you must get off the sugar habit, and eat a healthy diet which focuses on foods that help detoxify your body. There are many foods that help with detoxification (such as lemons and beets, which are good for the liver) and there is kefir, which is wonderful for restoring a healthy flora in the digestive tract and strengthen the immune system (i.e., put it in a healthy state. One woman said to me, NO! You don't want to strengthen the immune system if we have autoimmunity! But what I mean is that we balance it out, not make it strive harder against our own self.) I am not sure exactly what is the reason for all of the pain that women experience. I did not experience it, but I know many, many women have. I also know that they were eventually able to get off all of their pain meds, but it is a process. Coffee enemas are great for reducing pain, as some women have told me. There are many books as well as internet sites that discuss various forms of detoxification. Look into some of the different therapies available and use ones that work well for you. If you are suffering from pain, I believe a regular massage is going to be vital to you, to get the muscles back to normal and get rid of toxins that have built up. I hope this helps you Maritz. I wish you well. Guest guest
Welcome Phyllis! So good to have you here! Marsha [ ] New here Hi all, I just joined and wanted to say hello. I'm looking forward to getting to know people and get and share information about RA. I was diagnosed in November, after having my health decline to the point of being in a wheelchair. I had knee replacement surgery the day after my diagnosis so I'm on the road to recovery so to speak. I'm currently taking methotrexate and steroids. I take Mobic occasionally also. Guest guest
After reading Beth's story, which I found on Google, I was just so sad. I do went to get them out, right now, today, ASAP!! I am 34 but my body feels like I am 84! Any advice on a doctor I should see? Is there any financial support? I don't know that I can afford it but my health is too important - I want to get it done. Any advice would be appreciated. I am so scared that I have ruined myself for life. I want to feel like my old self again. My doctors have put me on anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medications but they have never mentioned it could be because of my implants. They have no reason as to why I all the sudden became depressed (no family history). Guest guest
You will get your health back. It may take some time, but you will. You need to get the implants removed first, though. Your health has no chance until you do that. We've all been through this-- I know how hard it is. But many of us have recovered our lives and are healthy again. Don't lose hope! You'll get better. just start researching and planning how you will do it, and get those puppies out! Bindi Re: New Here After reading Beth's story, which I found on Google, I was just so sad. Guest guest
Where are you? We do have a list on this site of plastic surgeons who remove implants properly. No, it does not seem to matter how long you have implants. Some women react immediately, some do not react for many years. Guest guest
It really hard to say if length of implantation matters in regaining health. On the one hand, we have women who have had implants a short time and have recovered fairly quickly, but we have also had women who had implants a very short time, and have taken years to recover. What seems to matter more is how quickly you react to implants once you have gotten them. But, there are still many unanswered questions in this mystery. What we do know is that the very best thing anyone can do is to get the implants removed. That will give your body the best chance to regain its former state of health, and to throw off the toxins and other damaging components of the implants that caused your body to react in the first place. You can visit the files we have in our files and links section to find a list of doctors in your area that have knowledge of proper implant removal. We do not have doctors listed for every state, but we are working on it. Having said that, we find that there are precious few doctors that actually take us very seriously at all. We have our 3 doctors or so that we KNOW will do a good job of explant. The others may know, but can sometimes act up or get squirrely on us and change their tune. So, the best thing you can do is arm yourself with the knowledge about what a good explant entails, and then question the doctor doing your explant carefully. Get a committment from them that they will honor your wishes for a total capsulectomy or en bloc removal with drains. Please check our files section. We have all kinds of information gathered for you for explant so you can be informed. Hope that helps, Patty --- In , " spinkscl " <spinkscl@...> wrote: > > How long did you have your implants in? Guest guest
Hi there, I know we can give you hope regarding your recovery. There have been so many women that have recovered. Symptoms go away, blood tests become normal again, energy returns, that feeling of poisoning and death slowly ebbs and fades, oh yes, you can recover! I was also given anti-depressants and anti-anxiety meds when I first got sick. But it wasn't the answer. I threw them away. I also had felt like a 90 year old woman even though my body was much, much younger. I don't believe anyone offers financial support through this problem. None that I have heard of anyway. We all have to find a way, and we do. You do what you have to for your health..you'll make it! Doctors won't mention that the implants can make you sick, because they don't believe it. They believe instead what they have been spoon fed....through the studies that have been touted and bought and paid for. The studies that are wrong. And anyway, the studies just don't ask the right questions. Perhaps not every woman gets sick from implants. But can a percentage get sick? When doctors say implants don't make women sick, ask them if a percentage of people have terrible reactions to bee stings? or if a percentage of the population cannot tolerate seafood? or if a percentage of the population has a celiac gene and therefore reacts to gluten? or a percentage of the population can have an allergic reaction to nuts? (you get the picture). Ask them why then should it be hard for them to admit that a percentage of the women who get implants may in fact react poorly to something in them? After all, it is a FOREIGN object. The body doesn't particularly like foreign objects, I believe. Otherwise, there would be no need for transplant rejection drugs. Their error comes not only in trying to prove that a significant percentage of women have to get sick in order to prove causation from implants, but their error also comes in assuming that the sickness should only be identifiable with already known diseases such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis..... or only with currently available and commonly requested tests. They overlook the suggestion that they may need to test for something such as a rogue protein, or missing enzymes, or too much of a certain mineral that is beneficial in small amounts, but toxic in large exposures...oh, like, gee, silica! A semi-metallic element! How about that? But, these things are just too deep for their minds, and after all, they just deal with the everyday issues like colds and flu and stuff. Our problems put them over the edge. We baffle them, as you have probably found. So, don't expect miracles from your everyday doctor. They simply are not smart enough to connect the dots. I apologize if I sound harsh. I am just so unimpressed with most doctors anymore. You have not ruined your health for life. You just need to get the implants out, and then take the appropriate steps to heal. Your first steps will be finding someone to remove them. That's just one hurdle that seems big, but you'll get past it. We all do. From there, read the files on this group for help and ask questions...you will find that you will slowly get better. We can help you through it all! Patty > > > > >I have been feeling just horrible for about 3 months straight now. > Had > > >my implants put in 1999 (saline, through the belly button). Guest guest
Thank you for the words of encouragement Patty. I made an appointment for a consultation with Dr. Huang. She can't get me in until the end of April, but I figured it is a start. You are correct about the doctors. They are puzzled by me. Besides my ANA Profile being elevated and my TPO (thyroid) being elevated, they can't find nothing wrong with me. They make me feel like it is all in my head. Thus, I am now seeing a psychiatrist! I want to get these out as soons as possible. I don't care how I look after, I just want to be healthy and active again. I may look into refinancing my house or a credit card. Whatever it takes. I know my husband doesn't understand. I really wish that he would research the web. > > > > > > >I have been feeling just horrible for about 3 months straight > now. > > Had > > > >my implants put in 1999 (saline, through the belly button). Guest guest
Will do. Thanks again. One question, I have been reading through the files and posts but haven't found an answer yet... do you think my implants could be a reason why I am not getting pregnant? My husband and I have been trying for over 4 years now. I ovulate just fine, my tubes are clear. I do have endometriosis but nothing obstructing. Just a thought? Hoping somebody has an insight. > > > > > > > > > > >I have been feeling just horrible for about 3 months straight > > > now. > > > > Had > > > > > >my implants put in 1999 (saline, through the belly button). Guest guest
Yes, not only have we had some women unable to get pregnant, but it seems that when women do, some of them miscarry as well. I realize that we can't blame everything on implants, but I've known women that had no problem getting pregnant before they got implants, but after implants they just couldn't. Guest guest
A lot of women have reported problems getting pregnant, and with miscarrying while implanted. I'd suggest that you take some time to detox after having your implants removed before trying for a child. . . I started a group for the families of affected children. . Some of the problems are horrendous! Support Group SiliconeKids. One of the things they are supposed to track with the "new" cohesive gel implants is reports of women having difficulty getting pregnant, miscarrying, and birth defects. By the time they figure out what's going on, it's going to be too late for many. Hugs, Rogene spinkscl <spinkscl@...> wrote: Will do. Guest guest
Wow! Thanks Rogene & Patty! I have spent oodles of money on trying to get pregnant! Nothing!! I am sure God has a plan. I need to get these out now ASAP! I suspected they were making me feel horrible over a year ago, but my husband has been a nay sayer... Recently my health has been declining and I just feel horrible. We want a baby so bad but at the same time I was thinking to myself - how could I care for a baby with my health? I have so many joint problems, aches/pains, memory loss, brain fog... you name it. I would be a horrible mother right now. I sure hope Dr. Huang has a cancellation soon - hopefully it is some young, unknowing girl who is seeking implants. Thanks again. > > > > > > > > > > > > >I have been feeling just horrible for about 3 months > straight > > > > now. > > > > > Had > > > > > > >my implants put in 1999 (saline, through the belly > button). Guest guest
Many women have had problems with fertility until a year or two after implants are removed. I have heard this from hundreds of women. Lynda At 12:39 PM 3/1/2007, you wrote: >Will do. Guest guest
Oh - I have such hope. I am just beaming. Thank you. Even if I can't get pregnant, I will be happy to start getting my health back. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >I have been feeling just horrible for about 3 months > >straight > > > > > now. > > > > > > Had > > > > > > > >my implants put in 1999 (saline, through the belly > >button).
