Guest guest
Thanks Akiba. You can tell she hurts. She hasn't moved much. She didn't even chew on her Dingo bone and she always eats those. Below is the definition of ACL. "The anterior cruciate ligament (also called the ACL) is one of four ligaments that are critical to the stability of the knee joint. " http://orthopedics.about.com/cs/aclrepain/a/acl.htm Thanks for the AWWW and she will be ok in time. X0x0x0 Shirley -- Re: Fred tore her ACL AAAAwwww (what's an ACL?) No matter what it is, I hope she's Ok.. Hugs!~*~ Akiba ~*~ Fred tore her ACL Fred has an official sports injury. She was running out the backdoor earlier today after a squirrel and the next thing I hear is her yelping. I go out and see what's up. She's limping badly then collapses. I go out and carry her to the backdoor then she wants down. I can tell it's the left rear leg. She let us manipulate it and etc so we hoped it wasn't broken but a sprain. We weren't expecting a torn ACL. The vet showed us how Fred's knee was moving and it shouldn't move like that. No x-rays were taken since she was positive that's what it was and Fred didn't tense up or yelp when anything else was touched or manipulated. You animal people out there that I'm sending this to, do we need a second opinion? I really liked how this vet handled the situation. She brought in a wooly blanket for Fred to lay on then she was on the ground with Fred while she was checking her out. It wasn't our regular vet they couldn't get uin. The office girl wanted to make sure she was out of there at noon when they closed. It was 11:30 when I called. So I took her to Noah's Vet in Speedway. They have a 24 hour emergency but they were in today until later so they told us to come right in. Yesterday I found a tumor looking like lump on Fred's head. The vet looked at it and said it's a wart-like bump so nothing to worry about. It's nasty looking so I was getting Fred into the vet on Monday for that anyway. She is on Rimadyl an anti-inflammatory and pain killer. Like an NSAID or COX II drug. She will have to have surgery on it. We can decide when. But the sooner the better before arthritis starts forming in it. The last part of her leg just hangs there limp when she's standing. She's sleeping most of the time now. So I guess nothing unusual there...lol But you can tell it really hurts her. The vet wanted her to go on Glucosamine for her joints. I have read where it hasn't made any difference in humans. Does anyone know if it works in dogs? She isn't on it. If I find it works better for dogs then we will. I won't buy it at the vet. Dang it was expensive!!
