We had that at first too (w/my daughter who is similar in age to your son),

and though it doesn't seem to be common, I've seen others post a similar

experience. We pushed through it and haven't looked back (ie great results

overall). It took about a month to totally sort the whole thing out but we

were seeing so many improvements (in every area except the constipation)

that there was no way I was going to stop. Now we get stools every day -

sometimes twice a day.

Hi Everyone,

My son 2.9 old has been having contsipation since I started Enzyme

(HNI Peptizyde) two weeks ago. Should I stop giving it to him or try

another week?

Thank you

My experience has definitely been that Zyme firms up stools, No-Fenol

definitely loosens stools, AFP doesn't really do either. Don't know if that

helps,

but we've tried each separately, and come to this conclusion every time.

Maybe consider adding in No-Fenol?

Hi Fanny:

My daughter gets all 3 Houston enzymes with every meal or snack. They need

to be in the gut to digest incoming food/beverages/supplements she can't

(yet) digest on her own. Also, keep in mind that the enzymes will improve

your child's absorption of any other supplements he's taking and some folks

find that b/c of that their kids need less of some of the things they used

to find helpful, so it can take some trouble-shooting.

When we started out, we started w/about 1/3 of a capsule for each time we

gave it and we worked up to a full capsule over time. Many people find it

is best to go " low and slow " so you can observe/mitigate any adjustments.

My daughter usually takes her enzymes mixed into a little rice milk (doesn't

notice the taste of them) but there are lots of ways to do it. Great ideas

can be found on www.enzymestuff.com

I have to say that so far the 2 biggest improvements we've seen in our

daughter (after working out kinks with each one) have come from Houston

enzymes and Brain Child vitamins/minerals.

Good luck!!

Josie

Constipation

Hi Josie,

Thank you. I will continue giving the enzyme to my son.

How many times a day do you give enzyme to your daughter and how much?

Thank you

> Hi there,

I'm dealing with the same issue, as I assume lots of us are. I

decided to research Bowel Cleansing after tying some temporary fix-

its like natural teas, increased vitamin C intake and all, which

would give me some relief the following morning, but then the cycle

would begin again, and didn't want to become dependant upon them. My

diet is the candida diet, (and has been for quite a long time) and I

use EVOO and coconut oils and drink the advised amounts of water

according to my body weight and still remained consitpated. Enemas

also have helped, I do mainly coffee approx. once a week. I feel as

though they are beneficial but I still needed see what I could do to

get right into the " bowel " , learn about it's function and deal with

it directly. I believe there are many factors that lead to

constipation, and if you have candida it is certainly a factor, and

there are many factors that can lead to chronic constipation. I

guess all these factors need to be addressed before any improvments

in bowel function can take place.

Sigh! I know it's a long tedious process. I've tried for so many

years to get this under control. I'm hoping it will happen soon.

Looking forward to a case of the " regulars " , lol.

Dear ,

How long have you been constipated, because it is also a matter of

natural healing which takes one month for each year. Remember my

story about the lady who had diarrhea for 8 years and it took 8

months to the date for it to stop?

Also, have you tried the remedy in the files " Digestive Problems &

Severe Die-off Symptoms " which is a 5 day program of pureeing foods

and two enemas on two of those days?

Dear Bee,

I just read this file. One of the women who works with

me was hospitalized last week for constipation. She

was in great pain, and they thought it was an

appendicitis, but it turned out to be backed up fecal

matter. She has really slow bowel function. Do you

think this five day program might help her? I'm quite

worried about her and am afraid of what the doctors

might want to do. I talked her into trying coconut

oil, which I'm bringing her on Monday. She eats the

typical diet: processed foods, low fat, etc. Any

ideas?

Thanks,

Jeanne

Hello angel,

I too have had chronic constipation all my life. I'd like to know what

people here think of colonics, not just to get things moving, but to

get old matter out as well.

Dear Jeanne,

Yes, this 5 day program would help her a lot. Also read the file on

Constipation. Good fats are very important for proper bowel function.

I, too, have a sluggish colon. Dr. said it's almost paralyzed. I've

also gone from bad to worse eating lots of meat and oils. In my

case, however, I have a feeding tube and can literally check to see

how long it takes for food to pass through the stomach. Everything

must be pureed so I'm already using part of the remedy that Bee

suggests.

I was worse than ever (almost vomiting, terribly nauseous and backed

up)so I went on liquids and stopped the coconut oil. I took Miralax

out of desperation. I finally had a bm after a few days. I resumed

the coconut oil and meats and am already sick/nauseous. It took 6

hours for 5 livers and some broccoli to pass through my stomach

yesterday. When I'm pooping well, I digest well. I poop better when

I consume oatmeal and apples. I think being this constipated is

worse on mybody than candida? How often do you eat fruits and

oatmeal?

Hi there!

Could you tell me more about your experience with OxyPowder? I'm

just finishing my first Bowel CLeanse of Dr. Schulze's #1 formula

and have considered using OxyPowder, Colosan or Homozon as a final

follow-through to liquify anything remaining that hasn't yet been

eliminated yet. From what I understand people have had good results

with all 3, so I'm just wondering how this one went for you.

Hi Leigh-Paige,

Did you read this?

Fecal Matter Does Not Get Stuck in the Intestines

Excerpts from: " The Long Hallow Tube – A Primer on the Digestive

Systemhttp://www.westonaprice.org/healthissues/digestion_primer.html

" The lining of the large intestine is as smooth as the inside of the

mouth. Contrary to widely held belief, only in cases of severe

illness, such as cancer, does fecal matter remain stuck to the wall

of the bowel. Even in the elderly, the feces pass through the smooth

wall of the bowel without sticking. Except in very high fiber diets,

the bulk of the feces is made up not of fiber but dead bacteria. "

However, I do recommend coffee, antifungal and probiotic enemas, and

magnesium oxide for constipation (which is the main ingredient in Oxy

Powder) - also see files on Constipation and Digestive Problems.

I do want to thank everyone who offered suggestions on dealing with

this lovely constipation that I have. I would have gotten on

earlier than this evening but I've had a particularly bad day and a

half. That goes with the territory. My system has become so

obstinate that it has become used to magnesium citrate and to a

degree, magnesium oxide. These 2 sources have helped me to varying

degrees but then it gets in resistance mode. I know that the longer

I continue to help my body heal, this area will also get better. I

tend to want my colon up and running immediately since I've been

trying to get it going for so long but I have to be patient as I go

through this program. Patience is a virtue....isn't it????? lol

What works well for me is stewed prunes. Pour boiling water over the prunes

to cover, bring back to a boil. Simmer gently for 20 mins to neutralize the

afloxin. Turn off the heat, cool and eat. Extras will keep in the fridge up

to a week. Eat 5 - 6 in an emergency.

If you worry about the fruit sugar, the other thing I have used is malva

tea. This is one of the steps suggested by Hulda in her Cleansing

Program. It works in 8 hours. Steep the malva for only 2 minutes unless you

want a flood, though. It is very powerful. It also comes in capsules.

I hope this helps!

Thanks nh for the suggestion. I never heard of malva tea. Do you

know if it's something your system gets used to? I'll definitely

check into it. Your right on the prunes. Can't do it right now. I

actually love prunes. I can't remember if I've ever stewed them.

I've tried so many things that I'm starting to not remember

Yes, unfortunately your system can get used to it. However, you can brew it

stronger. I've never seen it fail though. :)

I was never able to find 'pure' malva tea. I found a combination in china

town, though (Seattle). /nh looks at box... It's called " Dieter's Delight "

and has the combination of " Malva Verticellata, Folium Sennae, Cassia

Acutifolia Delile, 100% natural. Contains no caffein, preservatives,

chemicals or additives. "

I got the malva capsules at the GNC but they were too hard on my system. :o

I suppose you could try cracking them open to make the tea though. :)

That certainly solves the mystery.

I've been taking extra magnesium for three days now,

and I have diahrea. If it doesn't go away in a week or

so, I'll cut back on it. I started taking a gram of

magnesium to try and achieve a 2:1 ratio with the two

grams of calcium I take (for osteopenia).

Thanks!

I used to take my magnesium all at once (3 pills) and would have the runs soon

after. I now split up the pills and Carolyn Dean who wrote the Magnesium

Miracle said it is best to take it between meals for better absorption.

I still need to take some calcium and it seems like every brand I find has added

magesium to it. I need to take it alone at night before bed.

Anyone have any brand advice?

I was taking my calcium and magnesium alone at night and taking too

much. Following Bee's advise I am now taking my cal/mag 2 x's a day.

First time is with my breakfast and the 2nd time is with my dinner.

I have powder calcium/carbonate with added D3. I take 200 mg each

time of each. Before I started taking it this way, I was having

severe cramping in my feet and calfs. I tried every cal/mag at every

amounts and nothing seemed to help the cramps over a period of 10

years! I have no cramps now! Also I no longer have constipation. My

calcium is from Kirkman Labs. So is the powder magnesium.

Hope this helps,

==>FYI the recommended ratio of calcium to magnesium is 1:1. I have

experimented a lot with ratios because I was diagnosed with

osteoporosis in 1994, although bone scans are not always accurate. I

found that 2:1 would still cause muscle cramps, but 1:1 alleviates

them. Many other people have found this to be true as well.

I was able to increase my bone density significantly within 2 years

by taking cal/mag. Now I'm doing well on 350 mgs. of each per day;

some days when I haven't eaten properly I take an additional 175

mgs. Sometimes my diet contains more calcium so I take only extra

mag. I've gotten to know my body enough now, and I can say I would

never have another bone scan because they are damaging.

Be cautious about taking too much cal/mag as well. The recommended

amounts of 1,200 mgs. and higher can be damaging, depending upon your

diet. Animal meats are just as important for bones as cal/mag along

with Vit. D.

Hello H,

This is interesting. I have a friend that has MS and is struggling

with constipation. I passed on to her what you said in your post

here and she told me that she tried that last year. Getting up to 15

grams of calcium ascorbate to reach tolerance! She found that the

calcium threw her mineral balance off and caused her to have severe

muscle cramps! Now she feels she has an excess of calcium in her

body and is taking only magnesium.... still having muscle cramps and

constipation! She could not just stop the vitamin C but had to taper

off that high amount. She did stop because of above reasons and also

it made her nervous taking that high amount. She is on a candida

diet but not Bee's. Her's is a little different whereas she can have

a few more carbs.
