Guest guest
I have used FOTO in the past, and found that it was fairly time consuming for staff. FOTO is very " health status " oriented with some functional questions. About 9 months ago I switched to TAOS, which is less therapist time intensive and a little cheaper. The reports are function based (no questions about overall health status) and focus on pain/function/and percieved improvement. My staff likes the TAOS a little better from being able to better understand the results and much less time spent filling out forms. That said, FOTO has a computer based system now that may make the data less time consuming to enter. Both are good, both are JCAHO acceptable. Guest guest
Aloha, We also use TAOS. We are questioning how applicable this tool is for all of our patients and looking at other tools to add. We are currently reviewing Modified Oswestry Low Back Pain Disability Questionnaire, Neck Disability Index, Fear Avoidance Beliefs Questionnaire,Patient Specific Functional Scale and Pain Diagram. We are also looking to add a tool for Speech Therapy Services. Any input of what other facilities use and how they feel about TAOS would be beneficial with our information gathering. Guest guest
Speech has a tool through ASHA called NOMS. Our staff use this tool for our IRF, subacute and OPT services. Outcomes are reported to ASHA and a report sent quarterly with your results and national benchmarking information. Also, I believe the TAOS is based on the Oswestry. Guest guest
We also use TAOS. We have used it for 1 quarter. Good information. It really helps the therapist write functional, concise goals. It helps identify your least favorable outcomes; therefore, you can make a plan of action. In our case, Low Back pain had a perceived improvement of 65%. We are seriously addressing our treatment methods and educating the physicians on appropriate referrals. A lot of the patients are not getting referred in a timely manor, with acuity of greater than 2-3 months. This is a problem. I hope this helps. Please call me if you need help.
