Guest guest
Good morning. For any of the specialist certification exams I recommend contacting the related Section to see if they have (or are aware of) prep courses available. If a Section listserv is available then a candidate might also post a query about the availability of any study groups (or perhaps your staff member could start his own through this communication). Absent those possibilities, I recommend that candidates use the self- assessment tool developed by APTA that they receive upon receipt of application and payment. That document can be used as a study guide to help identify and prioritize areas that require further review. Regards, Dianne V. Jewell, PT, PhD, CCS, FAACVPR President CV & P Section APTA, Inc. Are there any available courses to assist him with studying for this exam, or does anyone who may have undergone the Orthopedic Speciality exam have any recommendations on how he should study? > Thank You > Shari > > __________________________________________________ >
Guest guest
The APTA sponsered courses provided the latest in research on the particular topics--cervical, lumbar, shoulder/knee etc. I feel they were over all beneficial but be aware some of the questions on the test were not as up to date as the latest research--ie patelofemeral studies indicating femoral inversion rather than patella movement. Guest guest
A friend of mine recently took and passed the orthopedic specialty exam. She didn't take any courses, but read a book called Orthopedic Physical Therapy Secrets from Hanley & Belfus Inc Medical Publishers from cover to cover and made some flash cards from it. It is a really good general overview, formatted in questions/answers. If you read something you need more info on, you can research from there.
