Guest guest
Hi everyone! Just wanted to share a couple of " good news " stories with you. Yesterday had an appointment with a surgeon to discuss removing her mic-key tube, as she has not used it since early December. We had never seen this doctor before, and I was expecting him to go over how long we would need to wait before the tube could be removed, as well as the procedure for doing so. To my surprise he removed it on the spot! He said that has had the tube for seven years and if I thought it wasn't needed anymore that was good enough for him since " You are her Mom and you know her better than anyone else. " was SO happy! She kept saying, " Oh boy, I'm so excited-no more tube! " The surgeon also said that if the stoma doesn't close completely by itself in the next 6-8 weeks it would have to be surgically closed and if needs any other surgical procedures (such as tonsils out) he would be happy to co-ordinate the surgeries so that she would only have to go under once. Wow! is in a regular ed multi-age classroom (1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders), and her classmates have been learning sign all year. Last Thursday they surprised on her birthday by SIGNING " Happy Birthday " to her! They were all so excited and proud and was just beaming. It was a very touching moment : ) In the ups and downs of our CHARGE journey this week has truly been an " up " week! Thanks for listening. W. wife to Ken, and mom to (16), Alyssa (11), and (7!
