<<Hi:

Does anyone have any experience with a monitor watch that would work

with Afib? My pulse during the day is all over the place with missed

beats and such.

Thanks with any help in this area. I would prefer the non transmitter

variety.>>

Hi Ed - I use a sports watch from ProACTIV (stratus model) but it does require

a chest band.

It works in AF,though it's range is from 40-240bpm so you can be outside of

these in the bad times!

I think you really need a watch that has an average option and ECG accuracy (I

think an ECG averages every 3 or 6 seconds for heart rate??). These days

there are quite a few watches which will upload the data to a computer. I have

a feeling that most software is geared towards sports/exercise rather than

illness.

It may be worth posting this question on Hans Larsen's site - I think he uses

some computer software to examine the rhythms.

all the best

Hey guys,

I am an avid runner and have also been looking for a pulse monitor watch. I

got one for my father (also an AFiber) made by Timex. We couldn't get it to

work on either one of us. I've heard Pulsar is a good brand. My cardiologist

was not familiar with sport specific heart monitors (duh) and didn't know

whether they would work or not.

Good luck and let me know what you find.

Bruce

I have been trying out a Polar Heart Rate Monitor. A friend gave me a long

term loan of it. It works, but I don't think it is completely accurate. I am

in permanent atrial fibrillation. Polar has a website www.polar.fi

I wore a Watch Monitor for a short spell while working out at the

gym - at the suggestion of a physical therapist.

It scared the living daylights out of me! Needless to say, it sits

in a drawer.
