Guest guest
Does anyone have any recommendations for outpatient billing software? In particular do you have any feedback regarding TurboPT or Lytec? Thanks Diane
Guest guest
We switched our billing software from Medical Manager to Raintree last October. Raintree has proven to be not only an affordable software package, but one that is continuing to learn their market and advance their product. I continue to be amazed by this software package and the new bells and whistles they add monthly. Guest guest
Diane: I use TurboPT now, but am looking for a change. TurboPT is too quirky. The management reports are nice, but payment posting is a time consuming pain in the *$$. I too would like the groups opinion and or experience on other billing software, especially one that could later interface with documentation and/or scheduling. DBconsultants.com has been hyped, but it's too tell what's a slick sales job and what' reality! Any thoughts or opinions are welcome. - B. Rohr, P.T. Guest guest
I also use TurboPT and have for the past 8 years. It was great when we were a small practice, but we have definitely outgrown it! Posting is cumbersome, and maintaining a provider database for 18+ therapists becomes very difficult if you have very many insurance companies that require a unique provider number in Box 24k of the 1500 form. Many of the management reports have worked well for us, but there is some concern when it comes to accurate and easily accessible provider productivity reports. The issue goes back to how you are required to maintain the provider database. There are also a few other quirks with respect to how you have to enter data in order to get patient and billing information to be placed correctly on the claim form. Its not horrible if your small, but you definitely notice them as you grow. Currently, TurboPT is not HIPAA compliant with respect to billing claims electronically (it will not produce the electronic file in the ANSI format). As of a couple of weeks ago, technical support told me that they were not even testing. This may not be a problem for you right now, depending your need to electronically file your claims. In Kansas, the most commonly used clearinghouse will only accept claims in something other than the ANSI file format until October, so you might want to check with your clearinghouse. TurboPT's release (version 8 I believe), interfaces with Spectrasoft scheduling system. We really like the features of spectrasoft. TurboPT does not currently have an export function. So if you wanted to export your patient database to create mailing labels, you have to go through several steps and use Microsoft Access. It can be done. I went through an extensive search for practice management/billing software about a year ago. My top two choices at the time were DB Consultants product ASPC or TPS 2000. After several onsite demos we chose the DBConsultants product ASPC. It was probably the single biggest mistake we ever made. As I went through all of the demos it seemed like every question I asked the answer was " yes " . The answer was always followed by a very logical explanation about how the software was completely customizable. I was even given paper copies of reports that seemed to give me all of the answers I was hoping to hear. This was a 3 1/2 month ordeal of claims not going out at all, not going out correctly, getting lost within the system, etc. The software is very very cumbersome, and often requires logging all users out of the system in order to rebill claims. That is completely unacceptable. For anyone who knows about computer networks and application delivery, sales staff will tell you that it is compatible with Terminal Services and they have not had any problems. After making a few calls to tech support, I found out that there is no one on staff that can support the application delivered via Terminal Services. I really could go on and on, but I will spare everyone the never-ending details. After 3 months of " all we have to do is just this one more thing and it will work like it's supposed to " I returned the product. I am still ironing the situation out, needless to say we were very happy to return to TurboPT even with all of its issues. I would be happy to discuss any of the information I have on each of the products or answer specific questions if it would be helpful to anyone. Just send me a message! Guest guest
Diane, I have used several billing software packages over the years. One three different occasions I selected and used Lytec. I frequently recommend it for small to medium sized practices. It is very user friendly, easy to learn and set up. It allows for tracking of deductibles, co-payments, and allowables. It also tracks referrals or authorizations. With the so many insurance plans limiting the amount of therapy it is important to track this. The scheduling feature is very easy to use and tracks for marketing efforts. The only negative item is that you have to make sure you set up your fee schedules and procedure codes correctly in the beginning. Ethridge Billing Software Would I be able to get some feedback on the following billing software programs...Lytec, Source (WebMD), and PTOS. I did online demos with Lytec and PTOS and of course they do not do everything that we need. I set up an appointment for an online demo with Source 3x but they never followed through, and always called me 2 days later to apologize. Anyway, if anyone has any positive or negative feedback on any of these 3 programs, I certainly would appreciate your input.
