Guest guest
Hi - I understand your desire to help your little guy gain some attention and stop the perseveration. I remember those days very well when my son was young. However, I would strongly encourage you to stick with biomed treatments and work on correcting these issues through a natural route. Prozac can be effective for some people, however, the detox coming off of it is horrific!! And my friends who did it, say they would never go on it again. Most SSRIs are not studied in children and they are being used with the jury still out on long-term effects. Believe me, I have been tempted many times to try Prozac BUT read up on the drug, here’s a sample of info available : http://www.herbal-supplements-guide.com/prozac-side-effects.html There are some things that can give you the same result as Prozac if you just have the patience to seek them out and do a trial and error in finding them. This is sooooooooooooo frustrating, I know. I am still living with frustration to find the last piece of something to help my son’s OCD. If you are working with a DAN! doc, ask him/her to help you work on the serotonin enhancers. Of course, you want to make sure you have cleaned up his gut and also are working on any side issues like yeast, etc. I wish you all the best. Although meds like this are reason of concern for little ones like my 4 year old boy, he is so disconnected and perseverative, I am willing to try it. All thoughts and experiences are appreciated. Hi , I would suggest going to www.sign2me.com you may be able to find an instructor near you that offers classes that might be more appropriate for what you are looking for. I am teacher of the deaf, feel free to e-mail me directly if you have any specific questions/concerns. Traditional ASL classes may not be what you are looking for. Good luck. Subject: Has anyone taken a sign language course? To: mb12 valtrex Date: Thursday, May 7, 2009, 1:51 PM My son is starting to learn sign language and I am thinking about taking a college class in it this summer. I don't know what to expect. Of course, I want it to be geared toward communicating basic needs, but I am not sure what the " target audience " is for these classes, adult or child, special needs besides being deaf? Has anyone taken one, did you find it useful?
Guest guest
Hi, My son is 6 years old now but in Sept.(2007) our neuro wanted to try Celexa for my son's OCD. We stopped after 2 weeks because it was terrible. He was bouncing off the walls and could not stop. He never was a climber until he started the med. A couple of days after starting, if he could climb it he was throwing himself off of it. Also, this is when the huge meltdowns with self-injurious behavior started too. He only took it for 2 weeks but it was long enough for my son to pick up on this bad behavior and it's still a problem. For us, it was a nightmare and it still continues to be a nightmare. BTW, after explaining what was going on to our neuro, he said the med was working and we were seeing the " real him. " He even tried to talk us into putting him back on it and starting clomipramine. No thanks! This is our experience with SSRI's and I'm sure it's not this bad for everyone. Amy HI!! I'm new to the group! > > > > Subject: Has anyone taken a sign language course? > To: mb12 valtrex > Date: Thursday, May 7, 2009, 1:51 PM > > My son is starting to learn sign language and I am thinking about taking a > college class in it this summer. Guest guest
Amy, you mind if I ask what his dose was? I wonder if sometimes it's so bad because doctors prescribe way too high a dose. That & it only works in about 30% of kids. That doctor sounds like an idiot! Could you imagine him prescribing, say, a high blood pressure med & someone's dropping to like 50/30 or something ridiculous & the response being, " Well, that's your real blood pressure. " Stupid-stupid-stupid! Debi > > Hi, > My son is 6 years old now but in Sept.(2007) our neuro wanted to try Celexa for my son's OCD. We stopped after 2 weeks because it was terrible. Guest guest
, I would try MB-12 injections, they really helped our kids come out of their own little worlds, increasing both awareness and concentration. > > > > Subject: Has anyone taken a sign language course? > To: mb12 valtrex > Date: Thursday, May 7, 2009, 1:51 PM > > > > > > > > > My son is starting to learn sign language and I am thinking about taking a college class in it this summer. Guest guest
I am using MB-12, about 23 shots so far and our Dan changed it to every other day. We have seen some positive changes. How long until you see really good results from this?Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerryFrom: " Soliday" Date: Fri, 08 May 2009 06:58:10 -0000To: <mb12 valtrex >Subject: Re: SSRI's , I would try MB-12 injections, they really helped our kids come out of their own little worlds, increasing both awareness and concentration. > > > > Subject: Has anyone taken a sign language course? > To: mb12 valtrex > Date: Thursday, May 7, 2009, 1:51 PM > > > > > > > > > My son is starting to learn sign language and I am thinking about taking a college class in it this summer. Guest guest
It did't take very long, we started seeing results almost immediately. If it is taking that long, there is something else wrong. Is he on a restricted diet? Do you suspect food allergies? We removed all gluten, dairy, soy, MSG, and artificials and started cooking all meals at home and this really made a difference for our son as well. At the same time, we were doing Andy Cutler's chelation protocol with mostly ALA (tried DMSA but it wasn't tolerated well). I can't put my finger on exactly what it was that made THE difference, but I have a different child today than I had a year ago. > > > > > > From: Soliday <elizabethsoliday@> > > Subject: Has anyone taken a sign language course? > > To: mb12 valtrex > > Date: Thursday, May 7, 2009, 1:51 PM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > My son is starting to learn sign language and I am thinking about taking a college class in it this summer. Guest guest
Hi Debi, It was 10mg's once daily. He was 4 years old (turning 5 that Dec.) and weighed 38lbs. After the neuro tried to put him back on it and add the other med, we decided not to go back. The clomipramine was suppose to be 25mg's, once daily and we could mix it with the celexa. So that would have been 10mg's celexa, 25mg's clomipramine and 300mg's Trileptal(seizure med, he's not taking it anymore). He said to give it all at the same time! Yikes! We couldn't do it! We thought he was an idiot too! Amy > > > > Hi, > > My son is 6 years old now but in Sept.(2007) our neuro wanted to try Celexa for my son's OCD. Guest guest
I'm not Amy but the doc put my son on the tiniest dose possible and said it won't be enough, but we'll work our way up and WHAM, we hit the wall with nasty ugly behavior immediately. He is now on NT supplements and very peaceful after just 5 days and of course it does take time to really kick in but we saw ugly behavior after 3 days of the perscription. Even the pharmasist said, wow, this is an ultra tiny dose. I had a gut feeling NT supplements would work for him but had trouble finding medical help to get him on the right ones so it took us a year of searching. I did try just travacor on my own and it did help but was not enough. We are using 2 different supplements now from the same company. Kathy Amy, you mind if I ask what his dose was? Guest guest
Allie is on 10mg daily & she's 64lbs, 4' tall. But he still may have reacted horribly. As another poster pointed out, some kids do horribly. I wish we could figure out why so only those who benefit would be the ones trying it & all the kids harmed from it wouldn't be harmed.
