I'm glad you are starting to feel well again, and I hope you are in sinus by now. Yesterday I felt exactly as you did when you went into afib. I felt on the verge of afib for about an hour beforehand, and it was almost a relief to go into afib because the feelings of dizziness stopped as soon as I went into afib. Several times during the past five and a half weeks of sinus I have felt on the verge of afib but never went into it. I guess the virus tipped the balance in favor of afib because this time all my strategies for avoiding afib were to no avail. Thanks for telling me about your experience. I will look forward to recovering from this virus as you are doing. Amid my misery you remind me that there's light at the end of the tunnel... and maybe a return to sinus! in afib in Seattle

I hope that once I conquer this virus, I will return to the pattern of sinus I was enjoying after giving up the dairy products. If you can't get the gas to " move, " you might try Mylanta Gas, chewable white mint flavored (or other flavors) tablets which are really Simethicone, an over the counter gas buster. It usually works quite well for me, although not always, as was the case yesterday. Several times in the last five and a half weeks I have averted what I thought was imminent afib by taking 125 m.g. of Mylanta Gas and walking around instead of sitting. I often find that if I walk around, the gas starts to " come up. " However, you probably wouldn't want to take the Mylanta Gas before a public speaking or singing activity because you might be embarrassed to find your words punctuated by burps! :-) Thanks again for your encouragement. It helps me to keep that positive outlook which is best for the heart. in afib in Seattle

Remember when you thought you were in permanent afib a few months ago, but reverted to sinus? Your courage and positive attitude really bolster my own spirits. Here's hoping this is a short episode. Abou the no dairy - that means no milk, no cream, no butter and margarine, n oyogurt, and no milk ingredients (casien(sp?), etc.) Does it also exclude eggs or other stuff I might not think of? I am not 100% sure what dairy is, now that I htink about it. Thanks, trudy
Guest guest
, I'm glad for your 5 1/2 weeks of straight sinus, but sorry to hear you're in afib since yesterday. The very same thing happened to me when I came down with a virus two weeks ago -- my body reacted by going into afib. I was not surprised, as all my systems, as well as my emotional state, were very weak. Feeling myself on the verge of afib for several hours, it was almost a relief to finally go in and get it done with. Finally I am starting to feel well again, but it was a bit of a rough time. I hope you are taking it easy and that you revert to nsr and recover from your virus very quickly. Sandy It's Back! It happened this way to me except more often. It took me 8 months to get to the last episode. When i quit the dairy i changed nothing else and my tolerance to all things is still increasing .Its a very long slow subtle process, congratulations for getting this far. At about this stage [4-5 month] it felt like my immune system was catching up on some housekeeping i experenced aches and pains from past injurys and issues and virus like symptoms. For example has your tooth played up again for no reasion ? Also do you notice an optimism/pessimism cycle? it may be your old 11-14? day afib cycle . Angus
Guest guest
Ok - I just gotta ask about this >At about this stage [4-5 month] it felt like my immune system was >catching up on some housekeeping i experenced aches and pains from >past injurys and issues and virus like symptoms. For example has your >tooth played up again for no reasion ? What is up with referring to her tooth? Could you explain, ? I have a reason for asking that I won't mention at this point cuz it's an off the wall thought I'm having. I find it interesting that so many people have been on the edge of, or have gone into afib. Last night I felt as if I was right on the verge. All the anxious, creepy feelings, my heart feeling out of sync some how, but not afibbing. Took hours for it to ease up. I know in my case, I ate things this holiday weekend that I have been avoiding. Sugar, dairy, spices, soy, and I was back to obnoxious belches and the same old, same old. I am really seeing how my diet plays in to this. And I sure hate to think that I have to give these things up but I sure will do it in a heartbeat <pun intended> if the afib stays away. deni It is seldom wise to leave a live dragon out of your calculations if you happen to live near one . . . ********************************************************************** No trees were killed in the sending of this message. Last Thursday I woke up in afib about 2 am. My pulse and bp were close to normal so I went back to bed. I woke up at 6:30 still in afib but pulse and bp still normal. I converted around 10 am. Anyway, a mild bloating started the day before and it got worse afterwards. If I recall this has happened before but not to this extent. So I'm wondering if the afib has anything to do with it and it's worse this time because of the Aciphex? Does anyone else have trouble with gas and bloating before and/or after afib episodes? I get that edgy feeling when things are going to happen. I can't figure out if it is because I've been noticing an increase in stuff and have started to tense up, or if something is out of whack in my system and it brings on afib. Another one who blew it with eating this week. I thought it was hard to give up coffee, but now I don't miss it. Giving up ice cream, that's a horrifying prospect :-) As a vegetarian, if I have to give up diary AND soy, I dunno what the heck I'm going to live on, air sandwiches, I suppose. I'm already avoiding fresh veggies and fruit because they cause digestive stuff.

I started afibbing after lunch yesterday around 2 pm. It stopped at 10 pm so I know it was something I ate. Once it got out of system the afib stopped. I've been pushing my limit on sulfites to see where it is and I'm sure I reached it yesterday. My stomach problems have subsided too when I am truly grateful. At least I didn't overeat during Thanksgiving. Again.....great news on your improvement. MK in Louisiana
