Guest guest
<<... I also question when others need to impose their values on us. I see this as a totally personal thing and one of the basic reasons the the USA exists in the first place. >> Otwoma, I suppose everybody here knows by now that the USA is a BIG trigger for me. The USA came into existance for freedom, equality, human rights, and the pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness. This is the very reason it is so triggering for me. These ideals, which are very dear to me, have been betrayed by the USA I know and by the USA that is now trying to impose its will, unilaterally, on the rest of the world. Sorry if this is triggering to others, but turn-around is fair play. - Dan
Guest guest
Dan, I have no problem with the feelings expressed in your post. As always, I considered them to be YOUR thoughts and YOUR feelings - and as such, they do not have to affect me if I feel differently. Additionally, you have expressed yourself on this subject before in a way that I have an understanding of why you feel the way you do - and how you feel makes a lot of sense in light of what you have experienced. I do have a bit of a problem with your disclaimer though. The " Sorry if this is triggering to others, but turn-around is fair play " I even looked up the idiom to make sure I wasn't taking it the wrong way. What I found is: " turn about is fair play - you get what you give, what goes around... If you give pain you'll feel pain. Turn about is fair play. " Are you saying you have been attacked - and are attacking back? It is almost like the attack is IN the disclaimer. To say - I am sorry if this is triggering - but I feel I have been attacked and I need to express myself - is valid. But to me - turn about is NOT fair play. Turn about is a counter- attack. Guest guest
Free, I did not mean to attack anyone. It is OK with me if people post things that are triggering to me. " Turn-around is fair play " means that I also want the right to express my feelings even if they could be triggering to others. I have gotten into bad trouble from this before on this group, so I sort of put on my porcupine suit before I replied. - Dan
