I'm pretty sure that Dr. Goldberg would not be in

favor of steroids because of the serious side effects

to the immune system. He advises us not even to use

topical steroids.

Giving steroids to anyone who has subclinical infections as all of the kids

who go to Dr. Goldberg, and all of the kids that come to our clinic have, would

be very dangerous. Steroids depress the immune system. Look up HHV6 and see

how powerful it is. Kathy -NNY

I know of two kids who responded very favorably to steriods and three who

regressed terribly. I suspect the reaction will be closely tied to how the

immune system is working -- hyper or hypo, etc. I know the Dr. G strongly

advises

against using them, especially if there is viral involvement. Our personal

experience is that even using topical over-the-counter creams on my son tend to

seem like they're helping at first but within a few days, his system starts

going into hyper-drive and he regresses.
