Guest guest
I got to Dad's this morning and the first thing Dad told me was that he lost his keys. I scoured his room, retraced his steps this morning, and couldn't find his keys anywhere. I checked his clothes from yesterday, his pants pockets today, coat, etc. So, off we go to Walmart to do his shopping, and figure the keys will turn up later. We walk out of Walmart and he suddenly reaches down into his pants pockets and pulls out his keys. He says something about the in-between lining reaching all the way down the pants, and that somehow the keys had slipped into this void. We get back to his room, put up a bulletin board, do some other little things, and I notice why he couldn't find his keys. His comfy jogging-type pants were on backwards, and the pocket hung down the back of his leg! We had a pretty good chuckle out of it, and when I left, he said he was going to quickly reverse his pants so that nobody was the wiser. On our shopping trip, we talked about his feelings about AL. He said he didn't have anything to complain about at all, except for one little thing. They kept waking him up at 2 or 3 in the morning, to give him his medicines, and then again to give him his eyedrops. I mentioned he probably fell asleep early and that it was more like 8 pm, and it was just like when I woke him up for his medicines at home. So, that's a pretty good review, from a guy who always finds something he doesn't like even in great surroundings. We talked about how it would take a week or two to work out the little bumps like that, but I was sure we could find a way that he didn't get disturbed in the middle of the night. He said that he was doing much better today than the first day, so I think that he's doing pretty well considering the big change. WHEW! Guest guest
I am so glad to hear that your dad is adjusting...it is so much easier when it goes that way...my mother on the other hand, begged me everyday to take her home. She said she would be fine, that we were exaggerating the situation and so on. This went on for...well let me see...mom was in there for 8 months...yep went on for 8 months...funny thing is, she says she was in there for 2 years...sheesh Kath Day 3 of assisted living ( " AL " ) > I got to Dad's this morning and the first thing Dad told me was that > he lost his keys. Guest guest
: Great news all around!! I'm so glad it all seems to be working out evne though I know the journey is still nowhere near over. You're both chuckling which is very good. Finding the humour in LBD is difficult but necessary. Hope tomorrow is just as good a day. Abby
