We know about the Armour doc finder. They recently updated it and lost some of the non-prescribers. It is not too hard to find a doc willing to Rx Armour. What is hard is finding a doc willing to diagnose those who are hypo with "normal" numbers and to keep all patients adequately medicated. Our list of Armour docs is on our site in "Files." If you want the names of the ones that I know are willing to treat despite suppressed TSH, email me privately. We have to protect those docs, lest they find their house surrounded at midnight by blackhooded members of the conservative medical community carrying torches, ropes and cattle prods. . . . As for docs you have seen, the good, the bad and the ugly, please fill out our database form on the site. Amy wrote: Good afternoon:I found out about this group from the other one I belong to, Natural Thyroid Hormones. I've been hypo for 11 years, only found out about it 4 years ago. Currently on 3 grains of Armour, but might need to find a new doc. Last tested on 5/23/06:TSH: .02 (range .4-5)Free T3: 286 (range 230-420)Free T4: 1.3 (range .8-1.8)Spoke to my doc on Tuesday who told me that he was very concerned with my supressed TSH (oh, PLEASE) and that my other levels were "a little high." Although he knows I've been raising

my dosage myself, he is telling me that I'm taking too much and he needs to cut my dosage. I said NO, I'm not. . .I'll go back to being sick. He mentioned the old thinning bones argument, and I said, "no, calcitonin takes care of that." Then he went on about the TSH, and that it impacts the brain. We all know that's wrong, of course, and when I go back in six weeks to get a blood test again. . .I hope to have more info to combat the inaccuracies he tells me.However. . .I go up on June 10th to 3.5 grains, if I think I need it, and I probably will. I did the increases like you're supposed to, and now it's time to slow them. I'm 65 pounds overweight, but of course this doc wants me to get on their "weight control program" which we all know won't work as long as I'm hypo. . .but anyway. I may need another doctor, and found the doctors list here. I'll check out the one or

two around me in Clear Lake and see what happens, if I need to. I currently don't have health insurance, but that may change soon. Even so, health insurance probably won't get me what I need anyway. . .I may end up self-dosing. Two tips: first, the doctors that have their names on Armourthyroid.com may or may not prescribe it. I went to one last year out here, Schumacher, who took only a TSH, told me I was hyperthyroid, and tried to force me onto an antidepressant, telling me it was a great weight loss pill and doesn't have any side effects. I should have walked out and not paid that old fart--stay away, stay FAR away. Second: Last week I had bronchitis, and was already due for my blood testing, so I went on Friday and he gave me Zithromax and a cough syrup. All told, the doc visit was $120 and the meds were $80; got them at Target Pharmacy, and a refill of Armour at

the same time. Tuesday night I got a call from the pharmacist asking if I'm feeling better!! (NEVER had that before--was he flirting? ;-}) So I asked him if they sell a lot of Armour--he said they did. So I asked him if he could give me a list of doctors that prescribe Armour--not patients, just doctors that prescribe it. He was shocked and said that he could. He wasn't expecting that. Now in the other group, one participant got a dummie Walgreen's pharmacist who told her to go see an endo for Armour. . .but if it worked for me, it might work for someone else. Try it. I'll do more reading as I can. . .lunch is almost over!!!Thanks for listening. Amy
