I found a recent comment regarding Detrol on the CaringSpouses site.

A new member had asked about it and this is what a long-time CS

replied....

" Detrol and ditropan have been discussed here. No neurologist familiar

with LBD would recommend either. They add to confusion " .

Sounds like what's happening to your mother.

My Mom doesnt have LBD, so this is a little irrelevent, but she does

take Detrol....and IMHO it's a strange medication. Considering what

its for, does it make any sense that it has a horrible side effect

of dry mouth and extreme thirst?????

My mother got more confused when put on medication for nighttime

incontinence. We stopped it after a few days as the confusion and

hallucinations increased dramatically. I think that it is a no-no for

anyone with LBD.

Hi Warshaw,

If I were in your shoes I would bring this up with your moms doctor and ask

him/her to try something else. This disease is hard enough without these

drugs adding to the pain.

Best of luck and please let me know how you make out.
