Guest guest
That would certainly stretch out the supply! It might be a bit tricky quartering them, since they're oblong instead of round. With my luck (and coordination or lack thereof) I'd probably end up pulverizing them. LOL >> Half would probably be too much, too. Maybe a quarter pill would be a useful amount. >
Guest guest
Yes, that is what I discovered on the Armour Thyroid site (I'm going to print out the page and take it to Wal-Mart and show the pharmacist). I think Dr. Gibbs might be just a touch dyslexic. (Hey I can make fun, I are one) I heard him distinctly say "2 grains", so I said/wrote "2 grains". It will all be straightened out today, and I will finally have my Armour! ~Chelle >> You said 2 grains in your earlier post. .2mg is more of a dosage for synthetic unless he expects them to convert it. 2 grains is 120mg and 'about' equivalent to .2mg of levothyroxine. Guest guest
I just bought a pill splitter at Wal-Mart at the same time I dropped off my Armour Rx. It was in the neighborhood of $3 (but I've already shredded the receipt so I forget the exact amount). When I dropped off my Rx I showed the pharmacy tech the conversion chart from the Armour web site and told him that I know Dr. Gibbs meant 2 grains because I told him (the Dr.) that I have been on 175 mcg. He (of course) still had to call the Dr's office to verify the dose. Dr. Gibbs' nurse doesn't come in until 12:30 on Tuesdays so if I don't hear back from Wal-Mart by 1:00 I am calling them back (the pharmacy is closed between 1:30 and 2:00 pm so the pharm. can take a lunch break -- I suppose he's allowed to do that ). Yes indeed, we will get this dosage problem straightened out eventually. What, me, worry? >> I bought a pill splitter at Walgreen's for 4.99 and it works great. I'm not sure how it would work on the bias for you to quarter your pills, but it's worth a try. It does a great job on the split of even the smallest pills.>
Guest guest
The grain designation is generally not used. If you check pharmacy websites, the doses are all listed in milligrams. I don't think I would remove him from the list for not getting back to you in a timely manner. I would make a note that patients should allow extra time for that sort of thing. A well-run office is harder to find than a doc who prescribes Armour. And yes. Yahoo is screwy. I have had posts show up late, out of order and never. . . . wrote: I'm trying to cut him a little slack because I know he has a lot of patients to see in a day and information to remember about each of them. I called his office this morning and found out that the message my pharmacy had originally left with them was misplaced, so I talked to the girl about Armour Thyroid dosage amounts and how they're primarily in grains, not mg (and definitely not mcg) and that the smallest Armour dose -- 1/4 grain -- is 15 mg. So for him to write my dose as 0.2 mg makes no sense at all, and I told her that. Dr. Gibbs' nurse doesn't come in until noon, and I'm sure the office staff takes lunch from about 12 to 1 or something like that, so I don't expect to hear back from them until after 1:00. This is getting ridiculous, though. It shouldn't take them this long to correct a simple dosing error. If it's not corrected by the end of the day, I'm seriously considering requesting that Dr. Gibbs be removed from our "good doc" list in this group. Enough is enough already. Sorry, just had to vent. ~Chelle (I hope this message gets posted --- the last one I wrote never showed up, even after 2 hours. Is something wrong with Yahoo?) >> I am a patient of Dr. Lynn Gibbs and I was the one who informed him > that Armour could be purchased at places like Walgreens and CVS. Guest guest
Jan, I wasn't serious about having you remove him (as if I have that kind of power anyway), I was just venting. Good idea about making that note, though, so other patients don't get as IM-patient as I'm getting. :-D > > The grain designation is generally not used. Guest guest
I think you're right. I don't want anything to interfere with the benefits I get from Armour; therefore, for at least a month I'm not going to take anything except my multivitamin/multimineral (which I got from The Vitamin Shoppe, called "From The Earth"), and I'll take that at least 4 hours after I take my Armour. In a way I'll sort of be my own "control group". One thing's for sure, I'll spend less money on supplements. Just out of curiosity, what does your doctor recommend in the way of supplements?~Chelle>> > Chelle,> > In my opinion, you will be able to gauge your response to Armour better> if you're not taking supplements with it.
