Hi Edie, welcome to the group, I'm relatively new myself. I've been on

6 or 7 months. These folks here are a great group. They (one or the other) know

just about anything you need to know

about LBD. My husband Stan and I are also in a May/ Dec

marriage. He's 75 and I'm 63. We have seven children among us. He had 4 by first

marriage, I have 2 adopted childern by

my first marriage and Stan and I have a daughter together.

I too am caregiver for my husband. He had a stroke on

Oct 11, 2002, only 2 months after I retired from work. The

Dr, dx was parkinson type with LBD. He had symtomes

for 2 or 3 years prior. Shuffling, bent over gait, etc.

After the stroke he does not know me. Thinks there a 4 or

5 women (all look like me) taking care of him. He's paranoid

in thinking they are out to steal everything. I think his

symtomes are that of capgras' syndrome, where they don't

know the one taking care of them nor trust them. I keep

hoping he will some day know me again. He was sensitive

to all the meds. All he takes is 5mg lisinopril for blood pressure

pepcid for heart burn. As for the phlegm, he constantly has

to clear his throat and he also drools a lot. I have to help him dress, floss his

teeth, etc. He can feed himself but drops food.

I have't heard of Bonnet Syndrome, I'm having our

daughter research for me. I don't have a computor, only

a earthlink mailstation. I have rambled on long enough and

haven't answered hardly any of your questions. Thanks for

listening. Pat in SC

Edie, Stan hasn't been told that he has LBD, he wouldn't

even know what it is. He won't even except parkinson, say's

he's not sick, that we(the girls) tell the Dr. he's sick. We all

(on the group) have our hands full. Thinking of you, Pat,SC.

Wow! You have your plate full. My husband is 90 and I am 55. He had three

grown children when we married 25 years ago and we decided not to have any

together. His children are great and they have children with whom I have a

terrific relationship. We had/have a wonderful marriage. Up till the time of

the operation my husband was active and enjoyed all of life. Even up to a year

ago he really tried to find something to be happy about. Now he is so

depressed that he just doesn't want to do anything. He realizes that his mind

is not functioning and that he just doesn't " think " right. I am wondering if I

should tell him about LBD. So far I just tell him the doctors don't know what

to think.

Thanks for the encouragement.

We've told my FIL that he has Lewy Body Disease and that it has

various components, hallucinations that can be controlled with

medication, Parkinson's symptoms, and sleep problems. We have never

used the word dementia though and he seems to accept our

explanation. He has asked and wanted to understand what's wrong -

more before than now.
