Guest guest
Hi, , I am sorry to hear about your father, but welcome to our group. There are medications your dad can take to help with his agitation. You may want to ask his doctor for advice on that. I care for my dad at home, and he has been on Seroquel for his agitation for some time. It has really helped him. Some LBD patients do not respond well to Seroquel, but many do. You will just have to find what works for him. You will find lots of wonderful people here with lots of good advice. Let us know how things are going for you when you have time. Guest guest
: You sound like you've got so much more than your hands full. LBD in your dad and a battleax step-mom who hurt your father in so many ways - WOW!! My own father has LBD and, after a surgery last August to remove a brain tumor, he too reverted back to his Native tongue - Italian - and this makes caring for him at the nursing home very difficult because the nurses and the doctors just don't " get " what he's trying to say. It's making life even harder than it would be without this LBD noose around his neck although my dad never complains about any of it. My dad was recently taken off Sinemet and is only taking Aricept now but the price of having him less confused translates into a bit more angry behaviour towards my mom especially. However, we don't really have the same degree of hostility you speak of in regards to your dad. Seems to me the psych ward or some nursing home has to care for your father since bringing him home isn't an option. I understand that having him there isn't ideal but if you don't have a choice, what else do you have? Please let me know how this is going? It sounds like a nightmare but we'll be here waiting to give you support whenever you need it. This group is amazing in this way.
