Guest guest
It's certainly NOT personal! LOL!! I use a battery operated metronome to keep me moving at a good pace when I walk! I'm training to walk my third half-marathon on January 6th. You can read about it at http://www.pledgepage.com/suerecchia Sue I did the thing I feared the most -- excuse me while I cheer. Now here I stand, a stronger soul -- and all I've lost is fear. PS - I hope this isn't TOO confusing that the two people here that you are conversing with are BOTH named Sue!! LOL!! They stopped making wind-up ones so mine is probably a collector's item. I couldn't use the new electronic ones for the piano cuz it used flashes and I never knew when they were coming. Mine has a lever that sways back and forth so I can see all its movements. I'm training to walk my > third > half-marathon on January 6th. Thanks for the pictures. First headshot is really pretty. Nice to see what you look like. The second headshot caught my eye cuz it looks like a teal shirt, my fave color!!!!! :-) Did you really put on lipstick on the last turn? :-D And how did you know a picture was coming? If you weren't joking about them being publicity shots, what are they used for? How did Disney help you finish? You can email me privately if you prefer. I will finish reading your site tomorrow. It is kinda late now. > > Sue > I did the thing I feared the most -- excuse me while I cheer. > Now here I stand, a stronger soul -- and all I've lost is fear. > > PS - I hope this isn't TOO confusing that the two people here that > you are > conversing with are BOTH named Sue!! LOL!! No, I knew that, LOL! But it would've been a hoot if I didn't know! LOL! In junior high school it took me a week to figure out this pretty older girl I kept saying HI to when we passed in the halls were really twins. And I had been talking to both of them. Thinking back now, they must have thought I was just Super Nice each day not knowing I had a history with them, lol. (hope you can follow that) Sue R., do you live in CA? Guest guest
Howdy Amy! >Aren't they kinda big to carry with you? Wonder what they look like? My metronome is a bit smaller than a pack of cigarettes. It runs on a 9v battery and both clicks and flashes. >Did you really put on lipstick on the last turn? :-D And how did you know a picture was coming? Yes, I really put lipstick on. I knew the photographer was going to be there because the reporter had set it up in advance. >How did Disney help you finish? If you read my marathon story, you'll see that the Disney folks moved me forward on the course a couple of times. That allowed me to finish in the time allowed. >Sue R., do you live in CA? Nope, West Palm Beach - FL. I moved here from Rochester, NY about 4 years ago. Where are you? Sue I did the thing I feared the most -- excuse me while I cheer. Now here I stand, a stronger soul -- and all I've lost is fear.
Guest guest
Hi Timary, Yes, we've tried the metronome with our daughter (4). She was still 3 at the time and we were seeing a chiropractic neurologist who offered this. As someone else mentioned, it is very expensive. But this doctor used it with her briefly during each therapy session (so it wasn't truly just metronome therapy. He would use it for a few minutes with her along with other techniques.) She responded to it much better than expected, as it is not recommended for children under six - because the part of the brain (I believe it's the cerebellum)that is used is not fully developed yet. But you could see her focusing and trying to keep and understand the beat. She seemed somewhat calmer afterwards and seemed to enjoy it. We stopped seeing him when I began the protocol. I think he was doing her some good, but was (am) hoping the protocol takes her further, so that she can better appreciate and put to use what he was offering her. So, we may go back to him in the future. If your child likes music, it may be worth a try.
