Hi Josie---

Science? To me, that is another language.

Your posts are always well-written and I imagine that was true of

your writing ability even before your inner-city school experience.

I figured 's leaving would get you a little down. I can't

imagine a time when my four and six year old boys will leave but I

know it will come quicker than I can ever imagine.

I love your description of as a " great friend " . Once your

children become a certain age, that's what you want. Once they're

your friend you know you've earned their respect and admiration.

sounds like a bright star in your otherwise really, very

miserable existence (the gods must be listening to one of us). Even

though her troubles are minimal by comparison to what us and our

loved ones go through, I recall all too well how insurmountable they

felt to me at her age. It's nice you can both laugh at them.

Have a great day.

Dear Abby:

We just got back from the DR., has a very bad bronchitis with

irritation of the pulmonary passages. She is on Prednosone and an antibiotic,

just

in case. She has been coughing constantly since last night, she slep a few

hours. She insisted on going to school and I had to pick her up. The DR said

not to take her to school tomorrow and let her rest. How do you MAKE a

teenager take care of herself? They think they are indestructible!

Thanks for asking. Did you tell us before how your son is doing. Sometimes

I loose track. I hope he is ok now. Just wait 10 years & you'll see what I

mean!

I am glad things are going as expected in the nh with your dad. I feel bad

for your mom with the schedule she has given herself. Maybe she will accept

rides from your husband regularly, if she doesn't go to your house every time.

I hope you feel more relaxed as well. I am sending you my support and

prayers, hugs,

Josie

Dear Abby:

Nichelle is on Azithromycin, that's the generic name. It is the kind of

antibiotic that she takes 2 pills the first day, then one for the next 4 days,

and

is much stronger, it keeps working for 5 more adays after that. She is

already much better. She took these at around 3 PM, and 3 hours later she had

stopped coughing. I was really worried at how she sounded.

She spent the 4 day weekend she had at Northwestern, with her sister .

I am sure she did not take care of herself, with the change of temperature

and all. She was telling the DR " it wasn't cold there " , the DR said, " yes, of

course, it is only the coldest winter in 40 years! " . Then, said that

she " misplaced " her pills and wasn't able to take them for a few days! What

am I going to do? She is a great girl otherwise. Amyway, the DR " prescribed "

that she stay home tomorrow. She knows that she is not going, but she is

already planning the weeked. She knows it is conditional to how well she is

doing.

I am glad is feeling better. Poor baby, it is so much worse when

they are little. I hope your new DR can treat him right away and get rid of the

infection or whatever is causing the problem.

You have to come to Florida soon, I am beginning to feel guilty about

enjoying our weather when you are up there in the cold! LOL! I really wish I

could

send you a little bit of sunshine.

Let us know how it is going with your mom and dad and how your plans for

going back to teaching are working.

Take care, many hungs,

Josie

Josie:

I seem to recall you saying last week that was on Biaxin.

It must not have worked very well if she's on another antibiotic and

Prendosone. Biaxin never works for my either. The reason

why he got a fever while he was on it is that he immune to the Biaxin.

My son is doing much better although the doctor told me on Monday

that he's still got a bit of an ear infection and he's concerned

because he's still not rid of his runny nose. He's sending me to a

pedatric allergist to check on why he's so congested.

Other than that my son is doing really well and is back to school.

Even the ear infection doesn't seem to bother him.

I know what you mean about the impossibility of keeping a teenager

down. It's very hard and if decides to go to school, you'll

have quite a task ahead of you convincing her to stay home.

I hope the meds make a quick difference in how she's feeling. No

one, particularly a teen, should be ill on a weekend in Florida

especially if you have good weather.

Josie:

And so you should feel guilty about being down in that warm sunshine

while people like Courage, Kath and I are battling the harsh cold

Toronto winter.

How about bottling some of that Florida sunshine and sending it to us.

Good to know the antibiotic worked on stopping 's coughing so

suddenly. That's amazing! Good to know she's got some good strong

drugs to help her out.

Can't really blame her for misplacing her pills amidst the fun with

. If all it takes is tomorrow at home I'm sure she'd tell you

it's worth it.

Hope you both have a good day home tomorrow and that you relax right

along with her. Watch some good movies or some trashy TV - whatever

gets you both through the day.
