Guest guest
Welcome to our group. My mother has trouble swallowing but she does not keep food in her mouth. The phyiscal therapist that we had a year ago says there are exercises that you can do to strengthen those muscles. (However my mother would not do them) M > >Reply-To: LBDcaregivers >To: LBDcaregivers >Subject: swallowing >Date: Sun, 25 Jan 2004 18:35:22 -0000 >MIME-Version: 1.0 >X-Originating-IP: 67.122.74.147 >X-Sender: judyhowe@... >Received: from n10.grp.scd.yahoo.com ([66.218.66.65]) by >mc9-f40.hotmail.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC(5.0.2195.6824); Sun, 25 Jan 2004 >10:42:14 -0800 >Received: from [66.218.66.160] by n10.grp.scd.yahoo.com with NNFMP; 25 Jan >2004 18:37:39 -0000 >Received: (qmail 67829 invoked from network); 25 Jan 2004 18:37:34 -0000 >Received: from unknown (66.218.66.166) by m20.grp.scd.yahoo.com with QMQP; >25 Jan 2004 18:37:34 -0000 >Received: from unknown (HELO n13.grp.scd.yahoo.com) (66.218.66.68) by >mta5.grp.scd.yahoo.com with SMTP; 25 Jan 2004 18:37:34 -0000 >Received: from [66.218.66.116] by n13.grp.scd.yahoo.com with NNFMP; 25 Jan >2004 18:35:23 -0000 >X-Message-Info: JGTYoYF78jHHAordNLXebPvgO2ltEFC4 >X-eGroups-Return: >sentto-2141318-24237-1075055856-cat86443=hotmail.com@... >X-Apparently-To: LBDcaregivers >Message-ID: <bv129a+adtfeGroups> >User-Agent: eGroups-EW/0.82 >X-Mailer: Yahoo Groups Message Poster >X-eGroups-Remote-IP: 66.218.66.68 >X-Yahoo-Profile: judyhowe9999 >Mailing-List: list LBDcaregivers ; contact >LBDcaregivers-owner >Delivered-To: mailing list LBDcaregivers >Precedence: bulk >List-Unsubscribe: <mailto:LBDcaregivers-unsubscribe > >Return-Path: >sentto-2141318-24237-1075055856-cat86443=hotmail.com@... >X-OriginalArrivalTime: 25 Jan 2004 18:42:15.0008 (UTC) >FILETIME=[F3A6D600:01C3E372] > >Hi, >I'm new to the group and grateful it exists! Does anyone else in the > group have other tips or things to try/consider? Judy, my wife takes a concentrated whole food product call Juice Plus, it come in different types, she takes the capuse and I empty them in a glass of water or gator aid. It gives her all her basic fruits, vegtables and grain that her body needs per day. She has been taking them since she was in the hospital and diganois with alzheimers/LBD (2002). Look on www. juiceplus.com/+jw60174 we don't sell it, just is the way she buys it, but the site gives you all the info on it and the reseach on it. Good luck. Guest guest
Hi Judy, My mother sometimes does this especially if she knows that we have tried to hide her pills in that mouthful. I bring a tissue up to my moms mouth and ask her to spit it out. Or, I give her a nice sippy glass of a certain juice she likes and ask her to swallow. Its worked so far for us. Welcome to this wonderful group of people. Courage swallowing >Hi, >I'm new to the group and grateful it exists! My dad suffers from >LBD -- relatively advanced.
