Hi Courage,

It is difficult to comment on my days, they have provided ample room for

growth. As for my mom, Grandma Marge to most, she is doing well. While she is

very slow in her movements, she has little shaking and no falls. I believe it

has everything to do with her working on her feet all her life and loving to

dance. Her balance seems quite well. Her presciptions are Zydes, a liquid form

of Zyprexa, and Effexor for depression. Now that they have figured out how

to administer them to her without her knowing, she has been on a fairly good

plateau. It is still difficult to have conversations with her because of her

limited hearing. We walk out to the courtyard for her to have a cigarette, it

is a good distance, and there I am able to talk louder without the whole unit

hearing.

Last week, a lady with Senior Connections, came up to Mom and asked how her

cheek was doing. Mom had told many that there was a little boy with a BB Gun

in the bathroom who shot her. This was the first visual hallucination that

I've heard about in a while. The auditory ones are quite regular. She told me

Rosemary, her old hairdresser, was wanting to talk to me at the nurses station.

All the staff there are so good about working with Mom's hallucinations. We

took advantage of the situation and had an appointment made at the in-house

beauty parlor and within 30 minutes she was getting her hair done. I am very

impressed with the way they are able to go into her world so well and that her

response is more trust, as is mine.

Now that I see her doing so well, I know I could never provide her with the

level of care she is receiving. In time, though, things will regress. I am

grateful that she is still so coherent and mobile.

Hope all is well with you. I don't always catch up on posts. You're

continued support on this site is such a blessing. Thank you, Courage.

Hugs,

Betty
