Sometimes.

Could the rash be die-off or food related? There's been nothing in

his diet the last couple of weeks that's unusual other than matzah.

I'd guess allergy more likely. Is it possible he's reacting to a filler in

the Lamisil?

Hey Guys,

I posted this question (copied below this post) on Wednesday and so

far no one's answered...I'm hoping the odd behaviors we are seeing

are related to die-off from the switch to Lamisil from Diflucan.

It's confusing because the symptoms he had the first week were pretty

mild and this past week were much more intense. He also now has a

mild, bumpy rash on his face -- around his mouth and on his cheeks --

that he didn't have the first week on Lamisil. So my question

becomes two-fold:

Would symptoms die-off for some kids start out mild and get worse

before getting better?

Could the rash be die-off or food related? There's been nothing in

his diet the last couple of weeks that's unusual other than matzah.

Help!

fourth day, my son seemed to have some mild die-off symptoms like

intensification of obsessions and some unusal stims, but nothing

terrible. Well, today he's the worst -- and most bizarre -- I've

ever seen him -- switching from giggling to tantrums and back to

giggling in seconds. This is normally a mellow kid. When he came

home from school today he was very crabby and I thought perhaps he

was getting sick, but he has no fever and his energy returned after

lunch. Then later, he was outside playing pretty well with some

neighbor kids when suddenly he stopped, put his hands over his ears

and started screaming at the top of his lungs, scaring the daylights

out of the other kids. I doubt they'll ever want to play with him

again.

Hi Gaylen,

That's a thought...I guess I'll have to check it out with Dr. G. It certainly

looks like the kind of allergic rash he would get from a food, but I can't think

of a single thing he could have eaten lately that could have done that, so you

could very well be right.

Hi Donna and everyone,

I may be experiencing the same thing with my daughter. We've been on

the protocol since the beginning of Feb., starting with Valtrex

(very bad die-off starting at 2 weeks and lasting approx 2 1/2

weeks.) We just began anti-fungal (diflucan)3 weeks ago, but she

came down with a double ear infection/sinus infection at the two

week point. Her behaviors were/are awful, but starting to get

better. But b/c she is sick I don't know if we're going through die-

off or if this is due to illness. However, the blotchiness on her

cheeks (which I was told is common on protocol and which she got

with valtrex) has gotten much worse and very pimply. Is your son's

rash very blotchy with tiny little pimples all through the

blotchiness? Cause while blotchiness seems to be common-place, I

haven't heard anything about pimples and her skin is normally

spotless. Additionally, her behavior became horrible. She was

showing much progress, listening better and doing many new things

with fewer tantrums. Now, she's tantruming at the slightest things

and has become more agressive, with pinching and headbanging (two

things we thought had resolved).

Any opinions...die-off or illness??????

Hi Jess,

's rash is pimply. Little red bumps and blotchiness too.

He seems a lot better as of today. The rash is mostly gone and his behavior has

improved greatly. I still don't know if it was die-off or allergic (at least I

know now that it wasn't from filler in the Lamisil). I read a while back that

since the toxins releasaed during a die-off put additional stress an

already-weakened immune system, a underlying illness or existing allergic

reaction can become intensified. So perhaps for both our kids, it is a

combination of both.

Just an opinion from a non-professional. :-)
