Guest guest
Hi I am in New Zealand -we cannot get Valtrex or Famvir here - we can bring Valtrex in through the Drs office at around $600.00 per month (2 boys to treat) - I haven't found a cost for Famvir but I was thinking if this is cheaper and just as effective as Valtrex I may try for that one - can someone tell me the difference between Famvir and Valtrex? Many thanks Terri NZ
Guest guest
Terri, My experience is that FamVIr is more expensive - unfortunately. I ship it from Friendly Hills Pharmacy in CA (1 562 693 3791 - ask for Dennis Amano) who ship by UPS for a number of Doctor Goldberg's patients. (that costs $US40 - $50 ) Not sure how it works if your Dr in NZ goes direct to presecribe but you can enquire. FamVir costs US246.60 for 60 x 250mg tablets - this is a month's supply for us (costs 50% more in Singapore! so it's cheaper for us to order several meds at a lower price and ship) Valtrex was about 30% less for 500mg tablets. One 500 mg Valtrex seems to compare to one 250 mg FamVir if I go on the doses Dr G presecribed us). Issue is that one or the other tends to suit a child better - and in your case for two kids they might be different! Some trial and error might be necessary. Give Dennis at Friendly Hills a call - he is very helpful, best wishes Re: Famvir-- Valtex different?
