Guest guest
My son had that difficulty when he tried Celexa. It wasn't pretty and we were all glad to get him off of it. Gaylen
Guest guest
Celexa was a good drug for my daughter, but when she was on prozac her behavior deteriorated when we crossed the line and it was too much. Lynn celexa side effects question just wondering if anyone has had extreme mood swings as a side effect of upping the celexa dosage. My son' rx upped from 1/2 20mg tab 1x day to 1/2 tab alternating with 3/4 tab every other day. He has been much more defiant, aggressive, opposition alternating with weepy and remoseful. (ie, extreme mood swings.) He also is claiming that " he can't control his body. " At first I thought this was just a creative excuse, but now I'm starting to wonder if it could be the dosage change. I will discuss with Dr. G during our phone consult next week, but I was just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience... thanks, Timary Responsibility for the content of this message lies strictly with the original author(s), and is not necessarily endorsed by or the opinion of the Research Institute. Guest guest
Timary We saw nothing at all like this with our increases in Celexa. (Jack is on 10 mg/day and he is 4 yrs and 39 lbs). We saw all positives....more alert, more coordination, more communication. > just wondering if anyone has had extreme mood swings as a side effect > of upping the celexa dosage. Guest guest
Hi Timary, Yes....over, and over, and over again...................................... That's been one of our biggest challenges because it happens with all the SSRI's. The low doses are beneficial but things go downhill everytime we've tried to go beyond that. I know that there's not always agreement on what these behaviors mean. In our case I can tell you with 100% certainty that the behaviors are not behavioral and are due to the medication dose. If the med is causing problems then no amount of discipline is going to make that go away. (believe me...I tried, lol) Reducing to a tolerable dose has been the most effective behavioral intervention for us.
