Clinton sends warning to Nrth Korea

Updated: 13:06, Tuesday December 7, 2010

Tri-lateral talks on the issue of Korean tensions have concluded in Washington,

with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton pointing to a significant role for

China.

The United States, Japan and South Korea have also agreed that North Korea will

face 'severe consequences' if it carries out more provocative acts, South Korean

Foreign Minister Kim Sung-Hwan said.

Clinton pointed out that with China being North Korea's main ally, there was a

duty on the country to help ease tensions in the region.

'We also shared the view that North Korea will face severe consequences if it

engages (in) further provocations,' Kim said after talks with Clinton and

Japanese Foreign Minister Seiji Maehara.
