my son was put on a trial of zolof over the winter school break. my son is 6

1/2 yrs old, autistic, apraxic, sensory, etc., etc. was on paxil (in

addition to lamisil, tenex and famvir). that combination was working very well.

since the trial of zolof (50mg) 1 tab 1xday, i have noticed my son will wake up

around 4am. he has also begun licking everything (again!). those are the only

two negatives. i told dr g this on the update form and i was told to

continue zolof until next appt (1-13-04). no blisters though. we'll see what

the

good dr says at our appt.

Hi

We too have had major sleep issues with every time Dr G. has tried to

increase the Zoloft dose. He cannot keep still at night & despite the fact

that he looks exhausted, just cant seem to relax his body to fall asleep.

Often he would only fall asleep between 10 & 11 at night & then would often

wake around 4 in the morning, be extreemly stimmy & hyper & be unable to

fall back asleep. We have done a number of trials, trying to get the dose

up from 1/2 a tablet, but each time have seen the same response. When we

revert to the lower dose these sleep issues improve dramatically. Zoloft is

by far the best SSRI for him at a low dose, but has been a disaster when we

have tried to increase it.

Hope this helps - In the begining I had to convince Dr G. that he was not

being behavioural. However we have seen the same pattern every time we have

increased the dose. He just cant help it! Dealing with a child who cant

sleep is no fun!

Regards

Sharon

Jin,

Could the rash be food related??

gets an itchy red rash on his butt that is very dry and almost

looks like a burn when he eats too many egg products. He was doing okay

with small amounts of egg, but I overdid it this time and its taken me

almost 2 weeks to get the rash to calm down. I also noticed that once he

gets the rash, that area of skin is very sensitive to any topical

irritation, such as Pull-Ups that I sometimes put on him at night or

detergents. We have to strictly avoid eggs till its gone and slather the

rash in Bag Balm to keep it moist.
