Guest guest
Hello all, I'm a medical translator who wants to do either a traineeship in medical translation or a course in medical translation in France or Germany (I wanted to attend the course in Lyon, but because of practical, not academical, problems [ I'm disabled]I couldn't) Any ideas? Guest guest
Hi Charlie, >Do you have information about the course in Lyon you refer to below? I might be interested... > I don't know which course in Lyon Fiorenza was referring to, but for a 1-week medical translation workshop (FR -> EN) in Lyon with Karin Band (usually in July) watch this site: http://www.sft.fr/ The workshop is organised by La Société Française des Traducteurs (SFT), Délégation Rhône-Alpes and is always advertised a few months beforehand. Guest guest
Hi Fiorenza, This is not really a course in medical translation in France/Germany, but MEC offer quite a comprehensive, cost-effective course in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology *in English* as a one-year part-time correspondence course: http://www.mayfield.edu.au/dlcourse.php3?CourseID=MT2041 When I was looking for one, it was the most comprehensive distance learning course available in English. Due to the remoteness of a considerable proportion of the population, we have a history of excellent distance learning courses. I am not sure how much has changed since I did the course, so it may be best to contact them and ask for samples if you are interested. If you ever consider doing the course, make sure you send your assignments on time as they are very severe about their deadlines whether you have medical certificates or not (my personal experience).
