Guest guest
Dear Group Members, Although I've been a member for quite sometime now, this is my first time to write in. I have enjoyed reading most of the entries and must Thank some of you for your information. I fell now is the time for me to offer some help and expose the situation that I live in. Let me preface my statement by saying that I am a mycologist and have graduate degrees in Plant Pathology. I've been looking at the genetics of pathogenic molds for nearly 20 years now which is the reason I currently work for an Environmental Engineering firm in Illinois. I live in a Public Housing complex in Rural Ilinois. I, along with 12 other tenants in 9 bldgs. have serious issues with mold. The water intrusion issues vary from leaky plumbing, guttering, roofing amd drip pans in our HVAC systems. The most serious issuse is in our HVACs. On top of the lack of maintenance by the Property Manager, they forced the maintenance man to " clean it with bleach and paint over it " for six years. They did NOT provide him with any PPE's and as a result of that, he is dying of a lemon size mold growth in his lungs. I have discovered that the have been hiding the mold issue since 1999! They had plumbing and guttering issues which created flooding in several units prior to the initial lease up. They made the HUGE mistake of thinking that I would go away quitely. These are OUR tax dollars. Village Management of Indianapolis has been accepting $15 million per year, yet leaving us to live in deplorable conditions. In the bldgs. that are identified as Section 8, TWO women are on oxygen at night because their asthma is so bad and they literally stop breathing at night. We have a Class Action lawsuit against the management company and I have found an attorney who will handle these cases Pro Bono. That's why I'm sending this information. I have received calls from all over the country on this issue, and it's not just the tax dollars these landlords are stealing, it's also the health and well being of their tenants. In addition, my civil rights are being violated by the property manager. They come in to my dwelling with out my knowledge or consent. They continue to call the Police on me for made up accusations, (I'm currently being accused and investigated for " Mold Burlary " ). The Property Manager swears she has an " eye witness " that said I broke into vacant apts. at a specific time on a specific day. I was 100 miles away at a meeting with my boss, but the local Police don't want to verify this. Our local CBS affiliate did a story on us last night, and will air part two tonight. If you are interested i watching this you can go to www.illinoishomepage.net and click on Mold: A Hidden Danger. Or you can google WCIA. Thank for for allowing me to vent, I look forward to your comments on this situation, but most importantly, if anyone is interested in speaking with our attorney you can contact me for more information. Sincerely, Yamamoto
