Marie,

agreed to me posting it on our list, but I'll ask her about

forwarding it, ok? I've already laminated the original, LOL! It's so

funny, too, because my mom is visiting and she just brought me down a

stack of yellowed, tattered papers from my early childhood, including

" essays " that I wrote when I was exactly 's age. It was an

amazing glimpse into my thoughts as a child. Obviously nothing can

compare to 's ability, though. Absolutely mind-blowing.

Penny,

She does have a keyboard, but has not wonted to use it. She rejected

PECS and any other attempts to facilitate her communication. I think

she chose writing because she wanted me to know it was truly from

her. Does that make sense? Now I have the actual papers with her own

labored scrawl and I can keep it forever. Perhaps she will opt to

type someday. That will certainly be faster and easier.

What a beautiful gift your remarkable daughter has given you. I feel she has

put into words what me daughter would love to say to me but hasn’t quite

gotten there yet. There is always hope, right?

Respectfully, , I've never seen an 8 year old girl (I have 3 daughters,

one on the spectrum) capable of expressing themselves like this, or who even

has an awareness of things of this nature. Are you saying your daughter who

just turned 8 actually wrote this, or did she find it on the internet?

ly, I wouldn't suggest taking it to the district pyschologist. I don't

think the district psychologist will believe you if you tell them your

daughter wrote this. It's just unbelievable.

I asked you a question, , in order to clarify and I don't know why but

you didn't answer.

I don't know why you'd be " hurt " by my response, either. It's pretty

unbelievable that an 8 year old wrote that. Most everyone who replied

expressed the same astonishment. I wasn't calling you a liar, I asked you to

clarify.

Don,

I've rarely seen children who can express themselves musically like

my daughter, either. But they do exist. And there are many children

coming into the world today who are more and more like her. Perhaps

you need to do some more research. Here is an example.

In a message dated 3/24/2008 10:11:29 A.M. Central Daylight Time,

cathybuckley@... writes:

i know some kids younger than that whom wrote pretty intense stuff, even

said some pretty intense stuff. there's matty who wrote the heart song books. he

isn't autistic but he suffered disabilities and latter died but wrote

profound messages at a much younger age than 8 from what i understand.

I've met many kids here who meet at their angel's playground meetings here

and they say all sorts of things like that, some of them are autistic as well.

there's some kids meditation circle and the such, and even the news covered

them here locally. there's some folks wrote books about insightful messages

from autistics. there's Autism and the god connection by Stillman who

has a new release called The Soul of Autism: Looking Beyond Labels to Unveil

Spiritual Secrets of the Heart Savants. not that all autistics are the same

or even have the same experiences but many do have experiences such as these,

and people have written books about them, tv specials on A & E and Discovery.

some kids are just regular kids, some are labeled with autism and other stuff

but there are kids that say things that people find stunning, it's not so

rare as you may think, and certainly not unbelievable just not common is all.

tito wrote books called the mind tree poems which many found remarkable and

some others by other folks. i have cd's by Brittany Maier who is autistic and

blind and just played the piano 'out of nowhere' and another two jazz players

that are also autistic. we love their music. but many kids come out with some

extraordinary stuff, and people i guess some label them as different things

depending on their culture and the such. usually eastern folks, and

indigenous folks accept such things as normal whilst the western world it seems

find

such occurrences as unbelievable. people don't believe what they hear coming

out of kids these days even when they say it right in front of them.

we're going to an intuitive summer camp where we'll be spending the time

with kids who talk just like this and do other stuff.

i remember some years back some parents were all in a waiting room with our

kids to be picked up or dropped off to therapy. one mom commented about

seeing all the kids in a dream she had just had, the rest of us piped in each of

us commenting further on her dream as it was a dream we discovered we all had

shared. everyone was stunned. we've had stuff like that happen as well as

kids just knowing things. there's a lot that going on in the world that simply

can't be explained or dismissed as it's happening too often. i remember

sondra's poem about living in a crystal world because i experienced just the

same

kind of thing when i was young. i remembered living in a world just like that

with angels and stuff and looking into this world like a foreign place. but i

didn't discuss it as it just doesn't fit so tidily into how this worked is

supposed to run. but when i read it i broke down and cried because i remember

a time where i lived there too and here was someone else i never met or knew

who just wrote a poem describing a place that once was more real to me than

this place ever can be.

anyhow my nephew spoke to angels and the such long before he died, and as

unbelievable as you may find this too, we all saw them too one day. all of us

did. the day he died. and to protect some of our kids here I'll not disclose

some things they wrote because too many folks teachers and the such dismiss

it as something they must have gotten from TV or someone else. i guess that's

just the way it is. i feel like I've had people in my life that were angels

for sure.

There are kids 's age who are capable of complex math equations,

kids who are capable of complex musical compositions (I think is

one of those), kids who can create art pieces others only dream about

creating, etc. They are in the minority but do exist. is an

incredible musician, it wouldn't surprise me if she's a child genius

who has this nagging thing called autism that probably is responsible

for her genius and struggles all at the same time. How old was Mozart

when he wrote his first composition, like 6 or something like that?

Shoot, I'd be making copies & passing out to anyone would allow,

ESPECIALLY school so-called " professionals. "

Allie went through a phase last year where she drew angels constantly.

In fact, it was right when she first realized the ability to draw. A

lot of times she would draw a big angel holding the hand of a little

girl & would say the little girl was Allie, herself.

About time she stopped drawing about angels, our doctor's son, also

with autism around the same age, began talking about angels. He would

point to empty places in the room and say there were angels there.

If anyone has legions of angels surrounding them, they are people with

autism. After all, they know their own kind.

I have to say that recently my daughter, Kayla, has said that she see's her

Nona. (my mom passed a year ago Sunday) It was last week that she said this

and I believe her.

I also wanted to say that I thought it common knowledge that there are

autistic children that are gifted in a way that no one is. I think it is

wonderful that has found her gifts. I wish for all our children to

find their gifts, even if they aren't as amazing as 's. There is no

question in my mind and I think no question is so many others that is

gifted with the profound use of language and music. It is unique but not

unheard of.

Keep writing you give us all hope!!!!!

TJ,

sees my grandfather, who passed in 1978. He was very special to

me and we had a wonderful relationship. I was so sad when he got

sick and I still miss him every day. used to look over my

shoulder and smile and laugh at seemingly nothing from the time she

was a baby. My grandfather was so funny and always made me laugh and

would make the funniest faces by taking out his false teeth.

Eventually, when was able to form some words, one time when she

was looking at this " imaginary person " she said " Hiya DOLL! " in a

heavy NY accent. My grandfather was from the Bronx and he always

greeted me that way. would never, ever have known that. That's

when I was positive she was seeing my grandfather. So I'm sure Kayla

is seeing your mom, too! :-)

I think we all had this ability as infants but as we grew many of us locked

that part our of mind up, but our wonderful children haven't done so and see

everything. I wish Kayla could tell me more then what she does. She tells

me Nona is feeling much better now. I had an interesting thing happen to me

2 weeks ago. I had 1/2 my thyroid removed 3/5 and was recovering in my bed,

when I felt someone sit on my bed. There was no one in my room. I think it

was my mom or someone else in my family. It was a nice feeling. I felt

this same thing while in the recovery area of the hospital. I know there is

someone out there watching for us.
