Hello,

My wife is concerned about goat milk fresh or otherwise not having

enough folic acid in it for her son. She was told that cows milk has 10

times the folic acid that goats milk does. Of course this was buy her

pediatrition who told her not to let her son drink the fresh goat milk

because it wasn't safe. She's gotton past the fresh part, the folic

acid part is her only concern Her son is allergic to cows milk so I

bought goats instead of a cow. My only concern is I did'nt buy enough

goats, the boys and I can drink more than my girls are producing right

now.

Any information on goat milk and folic acid would be greatly

appreciated.

Thank you,

Greg

Greg, All I know is that our pediatrician told us the

same thing. He wasn't concerned about the raw milk as

long as we knew it was from clean animals and

place(which we had our own) but he suggested using a

folic acid supplement if we used goat milk. My wife

wasn't producing enough when they baby goat about 6

months old so we supplemented with GM.

in the formula recipe in Nourishing Traditions, it is recommended that you add

nutritional

yeast to provide folic acid if you are using goat milk.
