Guest guest
Hi , Where exactly did you find info on Serotonin. I couldn't get to it. Thanks for your input. We were also cursed with severe OCD. I will tell you my story;I am 47 and I have had OCD since around age 10. Had severe hand washing, horrible obsessing, etc. I was constantly in therapy but nothing helped the OCD. When I was about 26 the first SSRI "wonder drug" Prozac came out. Hearing that it could affect OCD I anxiously started taking it. For the first time in my life I got relief from the OCD. However I also became very depressed and felt emotionally numb. After 3 months I could't tolerate it and I stopped taking it. The next "wonder drug" for OCD to come along was Anafranil. I was able to tolerate it better than Prozac and stayed on it for about 1 and a half years at a high dose. It was excellent on supressing the OCD. However in the last few months of me taking it I had a rapid decrease in libido, became impotent, stopped having wet dreams, etc. I panicked and quickly got off the drug with the assurance from my doctor that my sex drive would return. Well that was 17 years ago and I think you can guess the rest. Luckily I have been working with Dr. Goldstein from San Diego and am getting back some libido and erectile ability. Unfortunately I had to lose many years just like you before I found help. Don't give up Vinnie, if I found help after all this time so can you.>> I am new here and am glad that there is such a forum. I have been on Anafranil for 22 years for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. The good news is that the OCD is completely contained. The bad news is that I have had almost no Libido for the last 22 years. I have just read here that the sexual side effect may be permanent. This is really bad news indeed. I have just gotten of Benzo and am hoping to get off the AD aswell. Has anyone had any experience with this or other similar drug? What was your sexual side effect experience? Did things get better for you. Did anything help at all. I was so convinced that I needed this drug. Now I kind of regret all the lost years. Maybe I can salvage a little of what I have lost.>
Guest guest
I saw a lecture on criminal minds regarding it and thought the website might add to it, but didn't and I haven't had the opportunity to youtube him for perhaps other lectures. I also think he would be a good place to start with some of the symptoms expressed on this forum and haven't had time to piece together to send him info.
