Guest guest
Hey , That's great news! I hope this keeps on working for you indefinitely. Guest guest
, Great news! I'm really psyched for you. I hope you've found a permanent way out of this! Other than the clomid and cabergoline, are you drug free? And who are you seeing who's prescribing this stuff for you? Is it Dr. G? Thanks! -E > > > > > > I have been on Clomide (25 mg a day) for several months now and just started taking Cabergoline (.25 mg every three to four days) 5 days ago and I am almost near baseline sexual functioning. Guest guest
E I am not taking any other drugs. I live in NYC and I go to two doctors. Dr Stein works at Advanced Urology in downtown NYC. He is a Urologist and I get clomide from him. Dr Hellerstein is a private practice Phycoparmacologist who is a professor for Columbia U and has done research on reducing sexual side affects of SSRIs. I get Cabergoline from him. Anyone he lives in the NYC area who would want to see either doctors, you can contact me on my e-mail and I will give you the contact information. Guest guest
. Just curious how things are going since you added Amantadine to the clomid/cabergoline mix? I've been on cabergoline for four weeks now. Just increased from .25 to .5 mg. I have been on clomid since May (50 mg M/W/F). I have had a few days this week where function and sensation and orgasm were back to near normal but it is by no means a regular thing. Yesterday, things seemed better than pre-dostinex but not as good as they were just few days ago. How are things going with you? Guest guest
Well - I have been waiting to hear something back from , but he's either not checking in lately or missed my post. To update on MY experience with the Dostinex (cabergoline) .5 mg Mon/Thurs. and Clomid (clomiphene citrate) 50 mg M/W/F things are...alright. Unfortanately, I can't report that things are amazing, and that I've " recovered. " But I am willing to say that things are better than they were. I have been taking Clomid for a while now (about 7 mos) and my most recent labs were 762 ng/dL Total Testosterone and 2.37 ng/dL Free Testosterone. Before treating with TRT (Androgel) or Clomid, my total T was mid 200's. Androgel (5g) brought my Total T to over 1,100 which was actually on the high side. I switched to Clomid in hopes of restoring fertility and because my testes had reduced considerably in size. Though I have my concerns about long-term use of this drug without cycling, it seems to be working quite well. The cabergoline has been less dramatic than I expected, but I will say that it has helped. I have appreciably more sensation than I've had in a very long time (though still not normal), and I've been able to achieve a few orgasms (of a quality I haven't experienced since the summer of 2006) since starting it almost a month ago. I do sense that my libido has improved modestly. I do not, however, experience any arousal from visual stimuli. Erections are better (more rigid and persistent) but still tough to get started from a flaccid state. I don't experience any side effects from either medication. In addition to these, I take 50 mg of Zinc and 500mcg of Vitamin C daily before bed. I also take a quality multivitamin (Solaray Men's Golden), and a B-complex. I take high grade fish oil capsules fortified with Vitamin D (Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega-D3), and an L-Arginine/L-Ornithine blend (500mg/250mg) three times a day. That's pretty much all I can say at this point - but I will certainly post should something change. Guest guest
thank u much for the update. One thing Im really curious about is your mood while taking them. I think I heard clomid can make some feel worse but I wonder if dostinex helps with pssd depression. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I have been on Clomide (25 mg a day) for several months now and just started taking Cabergoline (.25 mg every three to four days) 5 days ago and I am almost near baseline sexual functioning. Guest guest
Honestly, I don't notice any effect on mood from either drug. I DO, however, believe that my overall mood, mood stability, and resistance to depression improved when my testosterone levels increased. That's something I'm pretty confident of. I've been going to a gym more regularly and between that and the dopamine agonist, some days I feel downright on top of the world. The only time I really get anywhere near depressed is when I am attempting to be intimate with someone and things don't go smoothly. One thing that has helped significantly is having had a few really good " sessions " where I had good sensation and good orgasm. While that hasn't happened consistently, it has happened a few times. And those few times when things have clicked, I walk away knowing that my body and brain are at least still capable of a normal sexual experience. It gives me hope that my brain hasn't been completely knocked out for good and that in time things will come around. On a side note, my local urologist totally surprised me at my first appointment seeking a trial of Dostinex. My primary physician referred me to him with a diagnosis of ED because she was uncomfortable prescribing Dostinex herself. When I clarified the variety of my sexual symptoms beyond mere erectile dysfunction and started to explain my history with antidepressants, he interrupted me and said I didn't need to say anything more. That he already knew what I was going to tell him. He knew all about PSSD - it was not something he was skeptical of or which I had to convince him of - so word is getting out. And for the first time, a physician told ME that a simple script for Viagra wouldn't solve the problem! I nearly burst into tears to finally have a professional really hear what I was saying and validate my condition! He says he's seen his fair share of patients with sexual dysfunctions that persist after discontinuing antidepressant medications and that, in his experience, most recover completely - eventually - but that it does take on the order of years. He hasn't really had anything to treat with and was excited to explore the combination used by Dr. Goldstein. He said Goldstein is highly respected in the field, had met him before, heard him speak at conferences, and was confident that if he was doing something, it was worth a try. He called him that evening to discuss the specifics and ultimately saved me the hassle and financial burden of having to fly out to San Diego and pay out of pocket for treatment. The experience of having someone finally look at me with a sophisticated, professional understanding that didn't require me to make my shameful case and the extension of genuine sympathy and a commitment to help me in any way possible was healing in and of itself! > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I have been on Clomide (25 mg a day) for several months now and just started taking Cabergoline (.25 mg every three to four days) 5 days ago and I am almost near baseline sexual functioning. Guest guest
gwistik Sorry I could not reply sooner, I got really busy at work. I very happy to here is aorking for you. I am having exactly the same effects you are. Increased pleasure and better orgasms which has lasted now for two months. However Libido has not improved much and I do not respond to visal stimuli. Still this is at least an improvment that lasts! My feeling and orgasm is at about about 80% base line and my libido and visual response is at about 10% there is no issue with errections once attained. I just added 5-HTP to see if perhaps an increase to seritonin would help with the labido. The theory I am working off of is that perhaps SSRI increase sartonin only while on the drug which disrupts the balance of seritonin and dopapmine (seritonine has been known to reduce dopamine which is the main suspect in wht causses sexual dysfunction with SSRI use). Once SSRI is removed perhaps dopamine stays low but saritonin may not only go to normal but perhaps below normal or at least changes the bondy's acceptable balance between dopamine and seritonine. By taking the dopamine agonist, it may be depressing sertonine to such a degree that effects libido. I think it will take some time for the 5 HTP to work. I also experimenting is changing the dosing of the Amatadine and Cabergoline. I think working off this base it possible to zero in on perhaps a complete recovery or at least a near complete recovery of sexual functioning. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I have been on Clomide (25 mg a day) for several months now and just started taking Cabergoline (.25 mg every three to four days) 5 days ago and I am almost near baseline sexual functioning. Guest guest
I agree with you, I think its obvious that it may not just be dopamine especially for visual stimuli. I took this one herb which is supposed to be a strong 5ht1 a and b agonist, and one of its effects is libido boost. On first dose it helped my visual stimuli but less on the orgasm part of it. I stopped it because of other effects of it, it made me sleep all day, aggressive while driving. Also there is a rat study that says that this herb decreases their fertility. It made me anxious outward and peaceful inside if you guys know what i mean, as oppose to being anxious inside and numb outward. So I think orgasm ablitiy is more has to do with orgasm and visual sitmuli is due to our serotonin not fuctioning correctly. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I have been on Clomide (25 mg a day) for several months now and just started taking Cabergoline (.25 mg every three to four days) 5 days ago and I am almost near baseline sexual functioning. Guest guest
I've been on clomid, cabergoline, and amantadine together for a couple months now and recently added cialis daily @ 5mg. This combination hasn't been a miracle cure for me, but it has helped substantially. I feel like things are improving slowly with time. The goal as I understand it is to improve dopaminergic tone gradually and then taper off the drugs. We'll see. Guest guest
Has the treatment helped with the numbness too or is it only with ED? If it did help with the ED aspect, I'm wondering what prompted you to add Cialis to the mix? And what about the emotional aspect? With increased dopaminergic activity, this should also see improvement right? Guest guest
The numbness has improved a little. Not a great deal, but enough to make sex a more pleasant experience. At times sensitivity is quite good, but it's not consistent or predictable. The issues I'm trying to treat are the genital anesthesia and anorgasmia. This little cocktail of meds has nudged me closer toward that goal and MAY catalyze full recovery - I don't know yet. Time will tell. The biggest reassurance I get from all of this is that a week after starting the cabergoline, I had two very normal, intense experiences where sensation was quite close to normal and the orgasm left me out of breath and glowing! From this, I derive a comfort in knowing that my brain/body are still capable of normal sexual pleasure...it's just a matter of tripping the right chemical switches. Regarding the ED: To be honest, I don't consider myself as having ED in the normal sense. I am fully able to get it up. It just doesn't happen on it's own and it doesn't last once it's up and going. My erectile problems, I believe, are directly the result of the lack of sensitivity in my penis. Even when I obtained an erection, I wouldn't be able to maintain it without having pleaurable feeling. The trouble is that optimal sensitivity I dependent on the maximized surface area of a fully erect penis. So it's a catch 22. But by stabilizing the erection rigidity and durability with cialis, I find I have the best chance of achieving whatever sensation my brain will allow at the time. So far, so good. I like the low dose daily approach because I don't get the terrible headaches of a full strength dose, and I can be ready to go whenever without having to plan or wait an hour or longer after taking a blue pill. Emotionally, I've been just fine for the past couple years with the only exception being the frustration and depressed states owing to this condition (PSSD) and the complication and disappointment it adds to my intimate relations. > > > > Wondering whatever happened to the folks taking the Clomid+Cabergoline treatment from Dr.Goldstein. Guest guest
Well sounds encouraging. I have the same issue with ED i.e., that erection doesn't last because I don't feel the sensation in the erect penis. Its almost like not having one. By the way, where are you located and can you give me your doc's details? I need to find somebody thats willing to give me the same drugs. By the way, how long have you been on these drugs? The issues I'm trying to treat are the genital anesthesia and anorgasmia. This little cocktail of meds has nudged me closer toward that goal and MAY catalyze full recovery - I don't know yet. Time will tell. The biggest reassurance I get from all of this is that a week after starting the cabergoline, I had two very normal, intense experiences where sensation was quite close to normal and the orgasm left me out of breath and glowing! From this, I derive a comfort in knowing that my brain/body are still capable of normal sexual pleasure...it' s just a matter of tripping the right chemical switches.Regarding the ED: To be honest, I don't consider myself as having ED in the normal sense. Emotionally, I've been just fine for the past couple years with the only exception being the frustration and depressed states owing to this condition (PSSD) and the complication and disappointment it adds to my intimate relations.> >> > Wondering whatever happened to the folks taking the Clomid+Cabergoline treatment from Dr.Goldstein. If I remember correctly, ontkyo and there was another person with the handle carrotstick I think that were taking this treatment. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone can provide an update on this.> >>
