Unithroid is still being made. So is the Lannett, which is in fact Unithroid. As far as I know, Walgreen's stocks only the Sandoz. I get my Lannett from my drug plan Caremark/AdvanceRx. Costco in my area carries the Lannett, even though it is not on their website. You do not need a membership to use the pharmacy. Drugstore.com carries Unithroid, but not the Lannett. Minyards had some doses in Lannett, some in Unithroid. I predict that Walgreen's will try to foist the Sandoz on you and tell you that Unithroid and Lannett are no longer being made or not tell you anything and hope that you do not notice. Unithroid and Lannett are round pills. All of the other generics are

oblong. I suggest that you do not wait for them to call you. You call them and ask if they can get it. If not, then you can retrieve your Rx from them before they fill it, not after. If you were taking Levoxyl due to lactose intolerance, the new Levothroid is also lactose free. I do not know who carries it. Walgreen's said they would order it and that I should receive it

Monday. This was the result of many phone cons and visits. Sigh.

I need to try something different for T4 because taking Levoxyl has

been full of ups and downs. Each prescription refill varied from the

one before. (I use my desiccated thyroid to adjust up or down.)

In the area of thyroid med trivia, maybe you already know this, but

Western Labs doesn't make Nature-throid, which I have been purchasing

directly from the doc. Western Labs had tried to foist a big price

increase on Dr. B.

He did some investigation, and found that the manufacturer is Time-Cap

in New York. Minimum direct purchase is 5 million pills (!), so now he

gets the med from a distributor -- but not Western Labs.

Dr. B said that the insert, and the bottle, were exactly the same, as

he purchased as Nature-throid from Western Labs.

He said the insert cited the same hypoalergenic fillers as Nature-throid.

So what does it all mean? Yeah, there oughta be a law.

I have to say, all the pharmacists in the several pharmacies I visited

were happy to look up the manufacturer of whatever they carry. I was

impressed by their helpfulness.

I just asked about Unithroid.

Cost-wise, my insurance wouldn't let me have 100, which is what was

prescribed. And even on a per-30-pills basis, my insurance was a

couple dollars more costly than paying for it myself. I liked that the

Costco clerk figured that out without my asking.

Walgreens said they would order it, but in fact did nothing.

Since I spend far too much time at Costco as it is, :-) I'll be

transferring my metformin prescription there as well.

I've been on the Unithroid for about 4 days now. Some of the deep

sleepiness seems to be abating. Apparently last month's Levoxyl was

way subpotent.

Thanks for all the pointers. Finding the thyroid forums a couple of

years ago saved me.

Costco scores a point!

I hate using a pharmacy without a drive-through, especially when I am sick. But if I were selfpay, I would probably use Costco.

I like mailorder even better. . . .

I was afraid I was going to have to use Costco and self-pay when my copays went over the amount of the retail cost of both the Armour and the Lannett.

But I had one refill on the Lannett at the Caremark mail service and went ahead and ordered it. Bingo! Instead of the $20 copay, they charged me $19.20, which was cheaper than what Costco had quoted me.

So then I ordered the Armour refill and got my 360 60 mg pills for $44.20 instead of the $80 brand name copay.
