Guest guest Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 That is soooo weird. I didn't get the original message? I just included his name on a list that I'm going to call someone at work about, tonight. She is the woman I diagnosed several yrs ago as having Grave's Disease. They fried her gland a couple of months after that, and she's been having all kinds of problems over this last yr or two, on acct of she keeps getting sick over and over, resulting in an infection in her knee joint, a hospital stay in the ICU. I kept trying to tell her that the reason she was so susceptible to all these infections and sickness was chronically undertreated thyroid, and now PROBably adrenal fatigue on top of that, because of being so undertreated for so long. Well, she's listening now, because a doctor at the hospital ran her thyroid hormones, and her TSH is now a 30 with a low T4, but they didn't run the Free T3 at all! And this doc did tell her that he thinks that her immune system is whacky from the low thyroid. No telling how long she's been that way, like yrs now. Guess who SHE'D been seeing in all this time, approximately every 3 months or so? The same endo that I saw one time (this is where I got his name was from her). Now ya know he's the one who did that famous saying of "Once the thyroid fails it never changes." And ya know I never went back to him. That was about 3 yrs ago or so. I've kept telling her that I wouldn't take a pet roach to him. Anyway, she never gets copies of her tests and has had no inkling of what her hormone values were. She brought her lab values to work with her, after telling this doctor that she wanted a copy (hurray--progress!) Grrrrrrrr!!! Well, she's listening now and wanted some names of doctors and such. She had a computer but doesn't any more. I included Pucillo's name on that little list, of doctors in the Houston-Sugarland area, but I told her that I don't know anything about him. Guest guest Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 I called his office today with a list of questions. Someone’s supposed to call me back tomorrow. I’ll let you know what I find out. It seems like he knows what he’s doing, but is one of those docs that do bioidentical hormones in addition to their family practitioner load. That means insurance probably won’t cover his fee and since he’s in Sugar Land, the fee is probably steep. But, I should know more tomorrow. Guest guest Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 Good deal, Katy. The person I was talking about desperately also needs someone who can understand and test for adrenal fatigue, as she has gotten overwhelmingly ill since her thyroid was fried. I think that when I finally do get a doctor, I'm going to be surrounded with "local" experiences to go by. Me? A doctor? That would be amaaaaazing, lol. RE: Dr.Pucillo in Sugar Land?? Guest guest Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 My insurance covers my testing for sex and adrenal hormones. It covers the compounded hormones at the "brand name" level. Getting all of your hormones balanced is part of the treatment for hypothyroidism. Katy Deschenes wrote: I called his office today with a list of questions. Guest guest Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 I know, but so many of the doctors around here have just stopped accepting insurance for anything having to do with the hormones. When they find out I need thyroid work, they say I have to go the hormone side of the house (rather than the GP side) and pay out-of-pocket. I’ve heard that from 3 offices in this area so far. Looking for a new doc is hard work!! -Katy From: Texas_Thyroid_Groups [mailto:Texas_Thyroid_Groups ] On Behalf Of Jan Sent: Monday, March 20, 2006 9:48 PM To: Texas_Thyroid_Groups Subject: RE: Dr.Pucillo in Sugar Land?? Guest guest Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 Would you be so kind as to list those offices so that folks will know what they are dealing with if they go there?Katy Deschenes wrote: I know, but so many of the doctors around here have just stopped accepting insurance for anything having to do with the hormones. Guest guest Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 Wow I've had White hanging out on a back up list because of her AD about natural hormones, one even said Armour on it. That a crock! Thanks for the info. Just thankful that I'm able to work with my doctor! Guest guest Posted March 22, 2006 Report Posted March 22, 2006 Well, I think she's a really good doctor with the right idea from what I can tell. It's just that she's expensive. The way it was explained to me on the phone is that in order for the doctor to spend the time necessary with you to properly balance your hormones, they need more time than the 10 minutes allotted by the insurance companies. This is why they have to charge more. I'm not sure how much of that I actually buy... It looks like many of the good doctors are starting to go this way. RE: Dr.Pucillo in Sugar Land??
