thyroid vs antibiotics

Recently I had to go on a one day antibiotic for a cold that turned into an

infection. (surprised?)

I've noticed since I caught the cold, and more recently since taking the

antibiotic, that my thyroid

medication isn't working as well.

Is it in my head or did the antibiotics do something to me?

If so, does anyone think I should be increasing my T3?

Before my cold, I was able to decrease the T3, now it seems like I need to

readjust.

Any one have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Lynn

Hi Lynn,

What antibiotic? There are sites you can search on the web to see drug interactions and their effects on the other meds you take as well as their effect on your thyroid, if any.

I'm going to take a leap here and guess you got Zmax, since that is

the only one day antibiotic out there. It shouldn't affect your

thyroid needs. Chances are you are just still worn down from the

infection. Even though you only take one dose it still takes 3-4 days

to knock out the infection.
