Guest guest Report post Posted May 8, 2008 Hi, Vidya, sent you a personal mail yesterday. Not sure if u got it.... remember very fondly your parents. Cannot forget all the home cooked meals and affection. They used to invite me over for all the functions/festivals. Was enquiring about all of u the last time I was in Sewagram. Poonam filled me in. Guest guest Report post Posted May 8, 2008 This is Gursharan from Ludhiana, Punjab. I am of 82 batch but took migration to Punjab in 1984. Hope my batch members remember me. I missed the silver jubilee, but visited the same ashram in Dec. 2008 and had lunch with Poonam. I really repented having not visited the Silver Jubilee. I have been following this group dominated mainly by Ravin, MOnica and Malini. It would be my pleasure to help any body in this part of the country. Guest guest Report post Posted May 9, 2008 I am thrilled to see the responses, which took me down the memory lane of? 1982. I visited the same Ashram with my daughter and son who are 14 and 11 yrs old and my wife in dec. last. There was a sea change in the ashram. I stood there in the cricket ground for quite some time. The same road now goes to Nagpur. I tried to find the shop who used to make good curd, but Wardha was all changed. Bipin and Poonam provided the awesome company ( beyond my imagination). ?????????????????? Actually It was an election of National IMA in Patna on the same day which clashed with our silver jubilee. I had some official responsibility of the elections, which could not be left to any body else. Can you believe that I migrated to Faridkot Medical college, which also celebrated silver jubilee in 2007 in Simla. DEspite being a organiser in that I did not attend it . ???????????????? I did my MD in medicine in DMC Ludhiana who celebrated Silver jubilee in Ludhiana only at a distance of 1 km. from my place. Still I did not go. Perhaps I never regarded all those batches as my own and my soul? was with my original batch. The memories attached to SEvagram were tremendous. ?????????????????? Yashbir Dewan of 80 Batch is here in Ludhiana as Head of Neuro surgery in CMC Ludhiana. Chhangu (Ashwani) was in Chandigarh and I learnt Echo cardiography from him. Pramod and (USA) are my very close friends. I had been the IMA President for seven years in Ludhiana and hosted National Conference of IMA ACADIMA 2005 IN Oct. 2005. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?? There had been a big turmoil in CMC last month and had to resign in the dirty internal politics of CMC. Really Really bad for CMC. Guest guest Report post Posted June 17, 2008 I am already aware of glaucoma being a side effect from some of my medicines. Being asthmatic all of my life, I am thankful that I can breathe. I have already set up my mind that in my older age, glaucoma is a given. I just hope that they can fix that....there are wonderful eye surgeries....or not. I have given in to the fact that at least I can breath....eyesight might go a little wrong. I am 52.....seen my grandmother with asthma have glaucoma. She adjusted...at least she breathed. I think I have only posted once or twice since I joined. I so agree with everyone regarding family support. My sister has finally understood my asthma better, and my husband is getting better at it too. Anyway, I have something I want to share with everyone. My husband has allergies, and he was taking sudafed almost daily. He just developed glaucoma, and when he went for a follow-up pressure reading on his eyes, his numbers had gone up again. It turns out, decongestants are bad for his eye pressure. Over the weekend, at a wedding, a friend said she now has glaucoma. She was taking Alegra-D for her allergies. Her doctor told her to stop taking it. What I want to say is: I hope everyone has their eyes checked regularly, whether or not you are having vision trouble. It is important to have your eyes checked for glaucoma regularly. Here is a link I found regarding taking anti-histamines and decongestants: http://www.uihealthcare.com/topics/medications/medi4756.html I do get so much from all that everyone shares, and I want to thank you, it helps me so much. Have a great day everyone! Debbie in Chicago ------------------------------------
Guest guest Report post Posted June 17, 2008 Wow sounds like a link to me! Thanks for posting that, And I'm glad you posted today Debbie! Hope to hear from you again soon Terry I know God will not give me anything I can't handle. I just wish that He didn't trust me so much. ~Mother Teddy Bear's Early Learning Program Established August of 1992 Hello Hi, I have been reading all of your posts for a while now. Guest guest Report post Posted June 17, 2008 I need to go back and reread my papers for Qvar and the rest of them for that matter, but you know what's annoying with this? Treating asthma comes with a price tag, and not just money wise but other conditions as well over time from the meds! Like I know my mitral valve can tear at anytime, it already doesn't shut all the way. but for right now I have to live for today and this moment so I have to take the meds Terry I know God will not give me anything I can't handle. I just wish that He didn't trust me so much. ~Mother Teddy Bear's Early Learning ProgramEstablished August of 1992 From: asthma [mailto:asthma ] On Behalf Of A HillSent: Tuesday, June 17, 2008 5:12 PMTo: asthma Subject: Re: Hello The destructions for Qvar mention a glaucoma risk. Guest guest Report post Posted June 17, 2008 Yeah, it's pretty much a pick and chose situation. Breath or die. It's one or the other. Terry I know God will not give me anything I can't handle. I just wish that He didn't trust me so much. ~Mother Teddy Bear's Early Learning Program Established August of 1992 Re: Hello I am already aware of glaucoma being a side effect from some of my medicines. She lived to be 100 years old! Guest guest Report post Posted September 20, 2011 My heart aches for your family - I totally understand... The OCD has such a stronghold on her right now, there will be no reasoning with it. She can't help it right now. Once she gets on proper meds and the OCD lets loose a bit, and you begin CBT - things will get better - they really will. I would look into Melatonin for bedtime - sleep is an important one to tackle (for the whole family) I wonder how she is even functioning in school - she must be so tired and absorbed in rituals.... I read a wonderul fictional book Kissing Door knobs - it's about a girl fighting OCD/counting - it is a realistic look into the life of a teen with OCD - it has a happy/realistic ending...If she likes to read - it may make her feel less alone... Best of luck Keep us posted. > > Hello everyone, > I have a 16 year old daughter who is currently undergoing the work-up for OCD. I have noticed the social isolation for the past 4 years but thought it was simply part of 'growing up.' It has become such as issue now and when she is approached, she becomes quite angry. She is up late at night and it is a constant battle in the mornings. > > When I finally got her to talk, she told me counts things and have a hard time sleeping because she cannot turn her mind off. We met with a therapist last week and she wants us to meet with the psychiatrist since she thinks it is OCD. > > My daughter's behavior is quite disruptive for the family when she actually ventures out of her room. I am wits end trying to reason with her and not get into a verbal battle or a crying meltdown. I came to understand she also attempted to cut her wrist when I threatened to remove her room door in an effort to get her out of her room. > > Does anyone have suggestions? >
