Guest guest
Oh, that reminds me, you asked about Dr. Vliet's books. I'd start with, _It's My Ovaries, Stupid!_ by Lee Vliet. Many libraries have a copy. The information in the first part of the book will explain the hormonal imbalances that cause the symptoms you listed below. It is almost always low production of estrogen, usually due to too many outside estrogens (soy, hormones in animal products etc) and not enough of the nutrients that support healthy hormone production (cholesterol, A, D, zinc, etc). She suggests a certain form of estrogen hrt, but there are much better ways. Butter (vits A and D) always helped me, but it took several months to really " kick in " . Guest guest
Katy, I'm gonna try to track down a copy of that book ASAP. Thanks! Its funny that you say that about butter... I've been going through my eating habits from when I was a kid and eating butter plain tops the list. I coated everything in butter but now I don't so much. Same thing with eating wheat germ plain, wheat bran, overdosing on mashed potatoes (which would be prepared with cream and butter until they were silky smooth), whole milk (my brother and I refused to switch to 2%), drinking half and half straight - or 'worse' light cream, liverworst (too much sodium for me nowadays...) and sucking the marrow out of the soup bones Mom made.... as well as a number of other things I can't seem to recall ATM. Everyone used to always tell me I ate weird/bad/wrong, so I stopped! I think that has been one of my biggest mistakes. As a child I didn't have " knowledge " stopping me from eating what I craved. Anyway, I think you are right on with the Vitamin A thing: I stopped eating so many carrots this week whereas I usually eat 1-5 servings/day as snacks. I also do not get enough sun (and resultantly probably not enough Vitamin D), as I am a computer geek. I think I'm going to go stew some liver for myself. Thanks a million! Sincerely, Lana M. Guest guest
Cod Liver Oil is a great source of vitamin A. Be careful about the brand you use. Most on this list would recommend " Blue Ice " (available at www.drrons.com) or Quantum (www.4radiantlife.com). Gibbons Here's a story of how one person cured her bad cramps and fibroids with vitamin A. http://www.westonaprice.org/women/menorrhagia.html Here's info on cod liver oil. Blue Ice cinnamon is the best flavor for those who don't like fish. http://www.westonaprice.org/basicnutrition/clarifications.html and http://www.westonaprice.org/basicnutrition/codliveroil.html Katy
Guest guest
The Quantum is very fishy and I can take it if I hold my nose and chase it with coconut oil. The Blue Ice mint is totally palatable and I can take it without much distress. I haven't tried the other flavors yet. BTW, these CLOs are very concentrated and I take (as the foundation recommends) 1 tablespoon per day. HTH, > > What's the deal with the flavors?
