Guest guest
Is there any data on the Economic Dead Zones for medical practices yet? I am considering writing an Op-Ed piece on the recent act that has opened the “discounted” health care to all children in NJ regardless of economic status. To date, the SCHIP has been only for families at <= 350% poverty ($72,000 for family of 4). It is administered through Horizon, called NJ Health. It is horrible. I did some recent fast calculations and I am getting paid 50 cents to the dollar charged at best. They paid $11 for a Tdap which I know costs me a lot more, and no administration fees. The governor and a certain Senator are saying how great this will be for our state’s kids but most docs won’t even accept the insurance so there will be a lot of kids with “insurance” that can’t find a doctor who will take them. I see this as horrible. I keep being told that you can’t talk about it being about the money as no one cares if doctors aren’t getting paid as they don’t believe it. So I want to talk about NJ being a dead zone and doctors have been leaving. I just was wondering if there are any “hard facts” about that yet?
