This was exactly what I was feeling. The 'stock'/ 'canned' letter was bad

enough, but I felt it was beyond ridiculous and extremely insulting To tell US

what autism is...like we don't eat , drink, sleep and breathe these damn

statistics on a daily basis! Your adjectives were perfect...my purpose in

sharing was to share the pitiful reply. I had a strong feeling you would all be

getting the same prefab letter- if at all. As for the others...if they reply at

all, I'm sure it will be more of the same. Sad, very sad.

Oh I love your replies! I never thought of that... about the defining autism

for us.... how

helpful...

Kinda like when I wrote my " Where's the Welcome Mat " letter to Governor

--- his staff sent

me a package of information about autism. Told me about the State Autism

Council - etc.

What would have been really hilarious is if they included a link to my website

for me to check out

for resources!

I sent a letter back with all they sent me and simply said, " Tried that, ~ don't

qualify, am

waiting for that, ~ 9 years now, ~ any other suggestions???? "

I never heard back.

Gee....

Imagine that...

I think we should all gather our letters from Kay and send them back to her in

one envelope...

Aliza,

Give her a break. She's busy trying to figure out how to partition Iraq and

stop people how don't agree on how to worship God (Allah) from murdering

each other..she simply does not have time to focus on important domestic

issues, like how to stop a developmental disorder which has reached epidemic

proportions. Rewrite the letter and fib a little..say you're an Iraqi mom

with an autistic child who loves the Republican party and is trying to gain

her citizenship.
