Guest guest
We need to not only flood Barton's office, but we also need to flood DFW media- WFAA, and others- and have them do a story on this. We need them to bring this issue to the forefront of the news. We need to make Joe Barton look like the jerk he is for having NO COMPASSION for the families affected by autism. JMO, Anne -- Re: THIS JUST IN RE: JOE BARTON'S TEXAS OFFICE...READ! and the Unlocking Autism crew... I want to assure you that Texas is doing it's part. Texas Autism Advocacy at least is!!!! Texas Autism Advocacy has about 1600 members who have been blasted with information to CALL CALL CALL. And they HAVE BEEN - listmates have been posting what they know and what they've done! Singleton and a handful of others diligently keep us up to date and give us form letters to go by.... Yes - I'm bragging about the listserv - the folks on it just ROCK! Apparently the Texas office for Joe Barton has their phone ringing off the hook and in an effort to make sure you that you guys are not the same people calling over and over and over again....they are now taking names. You guys are just AWESOME!!!!! Someone needs to tell them there are 1.5 Million people in the United States with autism who have 3 Million Parents, 6 Million Grandparents and countless teachers, aunts, uncles, cousins, therapists, brothers and sisters that care about them who may also be calling. If they get a free line out they can always call Willstaff Worldwide to get temps in to answer the phones.... Here are some points about the name taking.... 1) If you are asked to give your name, give it with a big smile on your face so you still sound friendly...and then tell them that you are not only calling for yourself but list all the names in your household, you know, since they are taking names. 2) Additionally, if they give you ANY ATTITUDE about Joe Barton being from Texas and you living in another state/or district...you can feel free to fill them in on this little factoid....JOE BARTON is the one person in the United States that is currently preventing this bill from going through the process and THAT directly affects your child even though you are living in another state because they money is not designed to go to HIS district but to ALL districts in the United States and OVER 200 Congressmen from OTHER districts support this measure. 3) Be polite...no point in yelling at them. They work for the man, but he is the one making the decision. Be firm in your position on this bill. The number that seems to be getting all the action, and getting people's knickers in a twist down in Texas is ....show them how YOU can MESS with TEXAS! They need to hear us ROAR! PS...If you live in Texas - and you want this bill to be brought to the floor this year - whoa doggie...you better be calling! They really seem to want to hear from you to justify all these other calls. And I live next door to Texas over here in Louisiana - you guys have a big state that covers a lot of ground! Don't make me drive over there and start calling from a payphone. M. Guest guest
We need to sponsor a picket line outside of his office as well. Bring your child with autism and SHOW him what he is preventing from happening. Anne -- Re: THIS JUST IN RE: JOE BARTON'S TEXAS OFFICE...READ! and the Unlocking Autism crew... Guest guest
Is this phone # correct? The one at the bottom of the page. I just called it, and it said " please leave a message. " It didn't sound very political. ??????? Re: THIS JUST IN RE: JOE BARTON'S TEXAS OFFICE...READ! and the Unlocking Autism crew... I want to assure you that Texas is doing it's part.
